I don't know who all if any have seen this but here is a break down of Darnold, Kupp, Lawrence, Jones and Reeds contracts.

Sam Darnold

Darnold, 27, signed a three-year, $100.5 million deal with the Seahawks. It included $37.5 million of fully guaranteed money at the signing, plus another $17.5 million that becomes guaranteed if he’s on the roster next Feb. 15. There are two void years added to the contract in 2028 and 2029 to spread out the signing bonus.

Darnold carries just a $13.4 million salary cap hit for 2025, which accounts for just 4.7% of Seattle’s cap space. His cap hit then increases to $33.9 million for 2026 and $44.9 million for 2027. His 2028 void year carries a $12.8 million cap hit.

If Darnold ends up being the Seahawks’ long-term answer at QB, they could bring down his 2027 cap hit by signing him to a contract extension. Seattle also could reasonably get out of his contract in 2027 with a pre-June 1 release, which would create $25.7 million in cap savings and a $19.2 million dead cap hit.

Darnold’s $33.5 million average annual salary ranks 17th among quarterbacks, sitting between the New Orleans Saints’ Derek Carr ($37.5 million) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Baker Mayfield ($33.33 million). Darnold’s 2025 cap hit ranks just 21st among QBs.

Cooper Kupp

Kupp, 31, signed a three-year, $45 million deal with the Seahawks. It includes $17.5 million of fully guaranteed money at the signing, plus another $9 million that becomes guaranteed if he’s on the roster next Feb. 10.

Kupp carries a $9.35 million cap hit for 2025. The Yakima native’s cap hit then increases to $17.5 million for 2026 and $18 million for 2027. Seattle could get out of his contract in 2027 with $14 million in cap savings and just a $4 million dead cap hit.

Kupp’s $15 million per-year average ranks 24th among wide receivers.

DeMarcus Lawrence

Lawrence, 32, signed a three-year, $32.5 million deal with the Seahawks that includes $13 million of guaranteed money.

The four-time Pro Bowler carries a $7.68 million cap hit for 2025, followed by a $11.33 million cap hit for 2026 and a $12.83 million cap hit for 2027. Seattle could get out of his contract in 2027 with $10.7 million in cap savings and just a $2.13 million dead cap hit.

Lawrence’s $10.83 annual average ranks 28th among edge rushers.

Ernest Jones

Jones, 25, re-signed with the Seahawks on a three-year, $28.5 million deal that includes $10 million of fully guaranteed money.

Jones carries a $5.28 million cap hit for 2025, followed by a $10.33 million cap hit for 2026 and a $12.83 million cap hit for 2027. Seattle could get out of his contract in 2027 with $10.5 million in cap savings and just a $2.33 million dead cap hit.

Jones’ $9.5 million per-year average ranks 16th among linebackers.

Jarran Reed

Reed, 32, re-signed with the Seahawks on a three-year, $22 million deal that includes $8 million in fully guaranteed money.

Jones carries cap hits of $5 million in 2025, $7.5 million in 2026 and $9.5 million in 2027. Seattle could get out of his contract in 2027 with $8 million in cap savings and just a $1.5 million dead cap hit.

Reed’s $7.33 million annual average ranks 40th among interior defensive linemen.

Good summary and write up screamin.

The way I kind of look at all of these is we're on the hook for 2 years... if we are cutting any of these guys after this year, it's kind of a fail..

Seems like less then what he wanted, but sort of meet in the middle sort of deal. Have to wait to see real details of the deal though.

Still if they cut him next year then he was paid 66 million for 1 season and if he plays both years thats 85.5 million or 42.75 million per. I would still 100% take a 27 year old Sam Darnold for 33.5 than Geno at 42.75.

After saying that i would take a 20 mill per year Fields over both.

I'm still fine with the move.

We got a 3rd round pick out of it (a middle one no less, non compensatory),
The contract basically is still a 2 year contract because it's enough guaranteed, so same as Darnold.
Geno is a $31M cap hit with the Raiders... Darnold is $13.5M...
We have yet another new OC... who Darnold is familiar and played for (not as an OC, but as a coach). That's a good thing.
Darnold is 28, Geno is 35...

Lastly, Geno clearly just didn't want to be here.

And neither QB was a long term solution anyway. The rumor mill is Seattle is looking to draft a QB but wont force the issue... Geno has completely hit his ceiling and I think I'd rather have him for 2025 for a $13.5M cap hit like Sam... but Sam has upside. Maybe he figures it out, maybe he doesn't. If he doesn't you're in the same boat as if he extended Geno. There's more 'hope' with Sam.

Bills have 2 second round picks, both later then the ones Seahawks have, so IDK how excited I'd be about that. Won't necessarily hate it but won't love it either.

I mean Woolen still is an above average corner. He had some weird mental blunders last year, but I wouldn't say he's average or below.

That said, if someone wants to surrender a late 2nd now, you take that. Woolen MIGHT become a great DB (has shown flashes but nothing yet) but DBs are traded and available all the time. They are not terribly difficult to acquire and with the passing league in the NCAAF DBs like WRs and QBs are pouring out of college. Point being, if someone said they'd give a 1st and 2nd for Charles Cross I'd say, "HELL NO". It's too hard to find good left tackles that are available in the market (which Cross is). Same with lineman and QBs. DBs/WRs/RBs, etc. you can generally find or trade cheap for if they're getting a bit older and you have the cap room.

Take it while you can.

I was on the trade DK Metcalf wagon in Pete's final year (where we prob. could've gotten a 1st). Like Woolen, DK MAY become some superstar? But I doubt it... it's a slim chance. Ya would've seen it by now. DK is GOOD, but that's about it. He's not elite, and kind of like Woolen I don't know how interested in football he is. Woolen sometimes last year just seemed like his head wasn't in the game. DK of course was moping around and disinterested in doing anything the 2nd half but committing dumb penalties. Whatever.

With how raw Woolen was coming into the NFL i would rather keep him. When he flashes he is a NASTY CB, His best years are still ahead of him. Sure you could find someone better but would they be better than what Woolens ceiling is? I don't know about that. Maybe they want a more physical guy? That could be it because Woolen is a pure cover corner. Not someone thats going to make a lot of tackles like a Witherspoon. A late 2nd round pick is right about what he is worth. He turns 26 this season and he is going into his 4th year. If you plan on resigning him then do it if not then trade him and get some value out of him for the future.

But remember if we trade Woolen we then need a starter quality CB and that means one of our seconds at the very least and possible 1st.

I would say if we got a 2nd round, you'd trade him after the draft. His value wont be any different but you need to see what happens in the draft.

Sure, if somehow Will Johnson falls and you take that... then fine, ship Woolen out for a 2026 2nd. But right now with the ammo we have, there's no reason to give him up now for a 2025 2nd.

Should've clarified that in my post when I said take the 2nd. That's conditional based on what happens in this draft.

he has to be the most overrated player on the roster, he has streaks of what looks like laziness and makes too many mistakes.

I kind of agree with this. The guy shows flashes of great talent and playmaking and then on other plays just appears disinterested or 'whatever'... and it's not always run plays, sometimes in the pass plays as well. He started as a wide receiver and switched to corner in College. Maybe it was his goal in life to be a wide receiver, so he's just not passionate about DB even though if he worked really hard I think he could become really good at the position.

I said last year a couple times I wonder if he really cares about football all that much? Like he could be a guy that if he just stopped playing and went to go be a boat manufacturer, it really wouldn't blow my mind.
