I'd be shocked if he's not extended here shortly... MM seems to have all the confidence in the world with Geno...

Agreed. Geno is not the problem with this team. The trenches are. And I pray John spends money and draft capital on it.. because at this point, this team does not need another receiver, tight end, QB, DB, OLB, etc.

The fact we spent a 3rd rounder on a guard last year and he was 'inactive' in games where he was healthy is a HUGE red flag.

Te round 1, wr round two, qb round three
OL is fine, they invested last year and plenty of FA OL that can be had on cheap one year deals

Well hopefully the Seahawks learned something yesterday. Get a fuckin' offensive and defensive line... Jalen Hurts is not an amazing QB (yah he won SBOWL MVP, whatever, basically the QB that wins does), but the Eagles DL was dominant. They didn't blitz a single time (no surprise, bottom 5 blitzing team) and the Eagles OL gave Hurts enough time to make plays.

Again, it's why I was pissed off we took Witherspoon over Carter. Build the trenches and everything else comes together. Look at the 90s Cowboys. I'm sorry but Aikman was an average QB. But the Dallas OL was elite and the DL was pretty damn good too.

If we take anything but OL or DL in the NFL draft I'll be annoyed. As for Myles Garrett? If the Browns let him go for a 1st rounder, I'm fine with it. Put him, Williams, Reed, and Murphy on the front and you are an immediate playoff contender.
No on Myles Garrett. Only 2yrs left on his current contract so in theory he's going to want a contract extension heading into this offseason and we don't have the money for that. I'd do this move if he was the missing piece to get to the Super Bowl but we're not there yet plus don't have a QBoF on the roster.

My hope for the Klint Kubiak hire is that he fixes Geno. I think he can make him a better QB mentally and thats where Geno is hurting himself the most. He made Purdy a better QB and Carr was having a great season under him ( until injuries to him and the whole team ). He seems to have an ability to get the QB's to have a better feel for the defense and to go through their progression, Fingers crossed. I would trust him with a Young QB also.

Geno definitely stands to benefit. Kubiak did good things with Purdy and Cousins. It should also help that Kubiak likes to run the ball and use a fullback. That will take a ton of pressure off Geno if we can establish a good ground game. And I love the idea of a fullback. 1) They are cheap, 2) they are better than bringing on a 6th OL or having a TE block who should be out catching, and 3) it very much fits Zach's style of running.

Keep Walker in on singleback and shotgun formations. Put Zach in on power I plays... and then sell it with playaction. I swear to God Grubb had no concept of playaction.

Some reason they dont like putting Geno under center. THERE IS ZERO REASON to not put Geno under center to take advantage of having Walker in your backfield. Like it or not he has shown he can break out at any time so he is a threat and teams know this. He gets praised for it because its not uncommon. It makes zero sense to have Geno 90% in shotgun unless they know something we don't.

If Kubiak doesnt have him under center then it has to be a Geno thing.

Just watched the Kubiak intro presser. Highlights:
  1. He described Geno Smith as a "huge draw" of taking the job. He specifically mentioned Geno's toughness, how much he's overcome in his career to get where he's at now, and his ability to win games in the 4th quarter.
  2. Mentioned "smart, tough, and physical" as the type of offensive identity they would have. Being able to win "multiple ways" is important, and he said it multiple times throughout the session.
  3. When asked what was most appealing about this job, he mentioned the opportunity to work with Mac and then named 4 players he was really looking forward to coaching: Geno, DK, JSN, and Charles Cross. Later, he also talked about how talented of a back KW is and how he could fit in any scheme.
  4. Coach Mac said that Kubiak had the "best vision" of all candidates on how to maximize DK's talent, and Kubiak highlighted DK's down field ability and physical presence.
  5. The offense will feature outside zone running scheme and Kubiak says he "loves" using a fullback.
  6. Kubiak said red zone success depends a lot on having success on 1st and 2nd down to avoid getting into low percentage 3rd downs. He also mentioned the importance of having an "elite" decision maker at QB who is also a good scramble drill player.
  7. On what he learned from his dad, Kubiak said, "How to act, how to treat people, how to carry yourself -- everything that has nothing to do with football..."
  8. Kubiak hasn't decided whether he'll be on the sideline or in the booth and says each has its advantages.
On the whole, I wouldn't really say anything in this presser was earth shattering. Mostly normal and generic coachspeak stuff. I will say maybe I wasn't expecting him to be quite so effusive in praise for Geno, but then newly hired coaches do tend to be that way in describing the players they've inherited at key positions. However, this layered on top of some of the other bits and pieces seems to reinforce the idea that Geno is gonna be here and be a big part of what they do over the next 2 or 3 years. It's not good news for some in here, but it's clearly the reality if you had to make the call right now.

Guess that mean we're resigning DK. I do like K9, but the dude can't consistently find the field (always a nagging injury). That said, I do think he should be way more involved in the passing game. Just get that guy the ball with some space in front of him!

Can they figure out how to execute a screen pass? We haven't had a screen game since Alexander feels like

Yeah from what they are saying Geno will be starting for the Seahawks, Metcalf isn't going any where and likely neither is Walker. That's fine with me. Really wasn't a good alternative to Geno this season. Unlikely to find a replacement for Metcalf this season and Walker got some talent that makes him more valuable on the roster then what you could get on the trade market. Have to see what the extensions look like and who they do cut and how the cap ends up looking.
Remains to be seen how they plan to improve the OL which is the priory or should be. Definitely the weakest unit on the team and has been for ages. If they just continue with what they have done in the past with cheap one year patches in free agency and late picks in the draft to address the IOL then expecting the coaching staff to turn water into wine, that's going to be hard to get behind.

On one condition, the FB has a name fitting of a FB.

Going to be super hard to top Mack Strong.

That said, I swear to fuckin' God if we take a TE in the 1st round and try to convert him into a blocking fullback, I'm going to fuckin' lose it.
