It is that time of year again. Lets talk the quarterback prospects.

NFL MOCK DRAFT DATABASE
1. Cam Ward, Miami of Florida - 1st round, 1st overall pick
2. Shedeur Sanders, Colorado - 1st round, 2nd overall pick
3. Jalen Milroe, Alabama - 1st round, 24th overall pick
4. Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss - 2nd round, 53rd overall pick
5. Quinn Ewers, Texas - 2nd round, 58th overall pick
6. Will Howard, Ohio State - 3rd round, 91st overall pick

CBS Sports currently has Dart as QB4, Kyle McCord from Syracuse as QB5, and Ewers as QB6.

What are your first impressions? Strong class or weak class?

Cam Ward and Sanders should be 1 and 2 in the draft. Not generational talents but they are talented enough for teams to develop.

Dart and Howard are solid enough to kick the tires in the 30s.

Milroe and Ewers are crazy talented but they couldn't succeed in college with talent advantages. I'm not sure you can expect them to succeed when everything is 4x harder.

It's hard for me to say one way or the other. In 1979, fans shit themselves when the Giants took Phil Simms 7th overall. He did a'ight.

In 2019, fans shit themselves when the Giants took Daniel Jones 6th overall. That is all.

I think Cam Ward and Sanders would have been battling Bo Nix to be the 6th qb drafted last year.

I think they'd be ahead of JJ McCarthy.

Although now that I've said that, KoC will do his QB whisperer action on McCarthy and he'll be a top 10 QB

If Milroe goes in the first round I’ll be astounded. He wasn’t a very good college QB, why the fuck would he be taken in the first round? He reminds me of Anthony Richardson, and we see how terrible he’s doing in Indy.
The only 2 QBs this year worthy of going in the first round are Ward and Sanders.

My general thought is that why wouldn't you just sign Justin Fields instead?

This definitely feels like an overall weaker class than last year. But that won't stop the "draft a QB asap" mentality that overtakes the draft every year. It wouldn't surprise me at all if 4, possibly even 5 QBs are taken in the 1st round.

It would stun me if 4 QBs were taken in the first round. Like I say, only Sanders and Ward are deserving of a 1st round pick. This reminds me more of the draft where the only QB taken in the first round was Kenny Pickett.

Imo this draft reminds me a bit of the 2016 draft.

I don't expect a Tunsil gasmask event as there is no Tunsil in the draft but top 2 picks were Goff and Wentz. The Browns vacated because they didnt think there was a starting QB in the draft. Ezekiel Eliot went #4 overall as an RB. High profile pass rusher and CB went top 5. Very similar draft imo.

Lets start with Cam Ward. He is projected to be the 1st quarterback off the board.

- 22 years old. Will be 23 in May.
- Played college football for Incarnate Word (2020-2021), Washington State (2022-2023), and Miami of Florida (2024)
- In 2024, he won the Davey O'Brien Award, ACC Player of the Year Award, and made the Consensus All-American Team
- Listed as 6'2 and 223 pounds.
- 35-22 as a starter.
- Placed 4th in the Heisman Trophy voting in 2024.
- Final season stats: 43 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 4,517 yards, and averaged 9.5 yards per pass. This was his career best.

this seems like one of those years where two QBs may go way higher than they should (because of position) & by the end we find out the best QB that year will be some undrafted QB.

Who would that be if you dare to venture a guess?

In a way, it would stun me too. But it just seems year in-year out as the draft draws near, when GMs of teams who don't have a confirmed starting QB they can depend on, they start getting antsy and sure enough come draft day, QBs are a hot commodity. Who knows, maybe this is the year the brakes are finally applied, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Yeah it stunned me when the Colts selected Richardson at #4 overall, I thought that was epically stupid. Milroe reminds me a lot of Richardson. I just don’t see any of the QBs besides Ward and Sanders being first round caliber this year whatsoever, but yeah more than just 2 teams need a QB. But I’ll laugh my ass off if some dumbass team selects Milroe in the first round.

I wasn't too stunned. Colts were maybe the most desperate team for a QB since I've been watching the draft back around 2008. It was Levis vs Richardson. I kinda liked Levis more, tbh, but Richardson was so young that you had a real upside argument there. The only blue chip prospects were Jalen Carter and he maybe had off the field issues (and somehow slipped to basically pick 10) and Bijan Robinson who is an RB and they had an elite one.

That said, we were all laughing at the thought of Anthony Richardson going rd1 at the start of the process for a reason. It was a mistake. When you have a chance to take Jalen Carter you take Jalen Carter.
