Mike Giardi made a very interesting suggestion about what the Patriots should do in free agency.

Sign several middle-tier WRs like Darius Slayton, Keenan Allen and Amari Cooper and maybe a mental case, who might be a cheapie, Stefon Diggs.
Make the trade for Cooper Kupp.
Keep Pop Douglas, Keyshon Boutte and Ja'lynn Polk.
Let the experienced guys come in and give the kids some pointers and see if they can improve. Those new WRs will all be excellent targets for Maye and help him develop into a much better QB.

Then spend some real money on getting the best LT available and the best DL or Edge and don't be afraid to 'overpay' so that the tax situation isn't an issue.

Set aside a fair offer for DJ Reed the CB of the NY Jets who will be released very shortly. He indictaed to the NY Post that he wouldn't be adverse to playing in NE.
Which is what Yankee Reb has been saying since November...October maybe...
If they can pull off anything close to this they can look at the draft in an entirely different way and trade down. Pick up an extra pick in the second or third round and use the first round pick to grab TE Tyler Warren. A guy who isn't afraid to block, catch over the middle and even play QB in the Wildcat.
Or Colston Loveland.

Or Ashton Jeanty.

Darius Slayton $47 million
Keenan Allen 33 years old and showing wear
Amari Cooper $14.2 million annually for 297 yards?
Cooper Kupp 33 years old, $40 million contract and showing signs of wear.

There is good reason teams are letting these previously excellent receivers go.
DJ Reed would be an ecellent signing but he is about to score his biggest contract. He will be expensive and highly sought after.
No chance on getting Warren at any pick other than 1st round.
We might be able to get TE Mason Taylor in the 2nd round......

Dolphins letting 24 YO Jevon Holland safety go in free agency. He is one of the best safeties in the NFL but Fins must save money.
That should help them "improve" from 8-9 to 7-10......

Is that like saving two dollars so you can spend ten?

Dump Holland and give Tyreek more money?

Have to agree. Improves the team 9 losses to 10 losses. Always want more of everything.

A position of need for a Cap Heavy Pats team. If he is that good it would lessen the priority of S in the draft. Not to say we won't grab one just that it can wait until round 5 if we do

According to a FOX Sports writer.

It's already a done deal. The Patriots will trade #4 to the Las Vegas Raiders for #6 and #68.

That would give the Patriots picks #68 and #69 in the third round.

If this is "true" would the Patriots make back to back picks or trade one for a later 3rd and possibly a fourth?

How can this be a done deal? Again teams are not supposed to be talking about this stuff.
