All are saying that NFL teams who draft a QB in the first round this year will be sorry.

I didn't start the 2nd round rumor, I just agree that he's worth that and I don't think it's smart to trade him for anything less. There aren't any QBs with all of his physical and experience positives that can replace him.

We just have to agree to disagree on our value of him.

Brock Purdy was the 243rd in the seventh.

Ryan Leaf was the 1st in the first.

I guess the question really becomes at what spot do the Pats tell teams to pound sand, and are they content holding onto a guy that most likely will only ever be a back up when they could have gotten draft stock for him

Rebuilding usually involves some tricky decisions.
It is easier if you have a ton of say,. CB's and you trade a good one to get what you want/need.
If you have an interesting QB to trade and have a lot of needs, you do it. But a QB who might be a starter or maybe even more? You hold out for somebody in great need. Nothing wrong in sitting on him if you think you have more rebuilding to do. Tricky.......

Correct but those guys are all with the team that drafted them and have proven their worth. Huge difference.

I'm with you. If they can get a 2nd, go for it. I think I'd be ok with a high 3rd and a serviceable OL. Anything less, I hold onto him. He's shown he's got potential. Just like the draft, it's a crap shoot. You never know, trade him away and he gets starter time he could end up being a steal. Putting up quality numbers for his career. You just never know. I would hate being a GM and making these choices. The flip side is you never know what that draft pick will turn out like. Lucky to be in this position.

I am. They need a vet who can at least try and teach the young guys how to win off the line. Kupp and JE as the WR coach would be a nice pairing IMHO.

His value is whatever another team is willing to give for him or whatever Vrabel and Wolf are willing to let him go for.

If I was Vrabel and A QB needy team came calling it would tell me they want a QB but don't think the two big names this year are worthy.

I would call their ante and tell them to cough up their 1st, Joe has been amazing in practice and the Patriots will have an open QB competition once training opens.

Goff and Stafford both hung him out way too often and he paid for it. Injuries have cut his past two seasons to less than 10 games.

Then there are the Patriots. They can eat the entire salary, give the Rams a 2025 Fifth and Sixth Round pick and a 2026 Fifth. An even dicier possibility is that the Patriots get Kupp and Swap Third Round picks with the LAR, #69 for #90.
