I may sound biased here, but late 20's Paul George is only marginally better than Desmond Bane is today... And Memphis won't be getting any SGA headliner in this trade.

The Clippers in 2019 were very much a forced superteam to compete with LeBron and AD in their own city... They really weren't built w/ delicacy at the time.

Sure.

But you are comparing this deal to what turned out to be a historically awful trade and the kick start to a potential dynasty

The Orlando trade looks like a lot at first look.

It looks like even more when you look at their salary commitments moving forward and realize they can only subtract and not add in the coming off seasons. Especially with Paolo being due a max next offseason.

It makes you wonder if there isn’t a secondary move with Suggs being moved out coming.

Moving Suggs would be a horrible move if they want to compete

I just don’t know how else to make the math work moving forward.

They will have 4 max or near max contracts in Wagner, Bane, Suggs and soon Banchero.

It might not happen this season…..but it seems like an inevitable move at some point.

Too much got to go right building only through the draft.
I didn’t say only, but a small market team should not be giving up all their draft capital. They probably think this is as close as they will be.

RJ Barrett played a lot better in Toronto but teams aren't exactly going to be beating on Toronto's door trying to trade for him.
