That's right, and it's really why both he and Mazi have taken the criticism they have. If they had been taken as 2nd rounders, I think they both are viewed differently as Mazi looks like he could be a good starter going into year 3 and that's really when Guyton should start playing up to his potential. That's why I think the Cowboys should not reach for anyone who is a project this year. Picking 12th, they need an immediate impact starter. If the player that is there is a RB, WR or DB, great, we can use those too. Really, every position short of QB would help after the coming purge part two

Which part? On Mazi and Guyton? Thats more on PFF grades and just watching them both play. As far as our depth.. We have 9 starters/starter minute rotation guys up for FA again this year. We'll see how aggressively Jerry and Stephen try and sign them or real FA replacements. If its last year's approach again, then one draft won't come close to filling it

100% For me, I think Mazi and Guyton both have all the talent they need. My only worry about them is they only have so long to show out before its time to make a decision on paying them. Not only do Jerry and Stephen do a terrible job on deciding whether they want to keep a player or not, the procrastinate when they do. So now they have a player like Osa who just finished up having his best year yet but now they have to decide whether or not he's worth the $100M total he is in line to get in FA

I've heard many times that both give a shit and have the "want to".
The media leads the charge promoting bust for both. They haven't proved that to me and I'm just a guy.

Big mistake just cause a kid came from a stud Big 10, SEC or any other big shit school received quality coaching.

That's true. I think the thing about being a Cowboys fan in 2025 is we almost have to specify "this is what I would do" vs "this is what I would do if it's within the Cowboys way of doing things". Like my TE in the 1st round thoughts. Of course, for THIS team, it would be ridiculous to take the TE, because the Cowboys are going to have 14-15 roster spots to fill, many starters, and only the draft, undrafted rookies and scrubs off the street to fill them. Now, with a real GM, that actually fills holes in FA BEFORE the draft and can take the best player possible, the TE is a great player. The way Jerry is deteriorating, it seems like the team is this close to the iceberg

Its a good year for that on defense, there are 3-4 DT/DE's that are top end guys and a lot of DT's through round 2. OL is weak this year but the Simmons kid from OSU and Banks from Texas are studs
I have watched Simmons,Banks and Campbell. I don't see how some have Simmons ranked behind these guys? Simmons would start at LT immediately if we snagged him at 12. Real good technique and athletic. He also is huge and it not all flab like most lineman.. similar body type to Tyron Smith.

He is easily the best OL but had a knee injury. If it checks out he would be a phenomenal pick for Dallas. I think Banks is great but I think a guard. I'm not big om the LSU tackle. I've watched games where he got his ass whipped

Check out Mike Green from Marshall as a sleeper shooting up towards the middle of the first round. Kid is an explosive pass rusher. 17 sacks this year

RB class is said to be deep.
Most early returns say Skattebo is 3rd round and some say 4th round. I guess I keep looking for reasons not to take Jeanty at 12. I'm so confused.

One reason...there were 4 starting RB's taken in round 4 last season...and our 4th rounder is Jon Mingo lol. I have warmed on waiting till the 2nd or 3rd round, I just worry they will stretch it to the 5th and wait too long

I keep reading there are only 15 or so with true 1st round grades. Does anyone know of a list?

From what I've read these guys are sure bets.
Hunter, Colorado WR/CB
Jeanty, Bosie RB
Graham, Michigan DT
Carter, Penn State Edge
Johnson, Michigan CB

Then I ass u me
Starks, GEO Safety
Simmons, OSU OT
McMillan, Arizona WR
Warren, Penn State TE
Pearce, Tennessee Edge

That is 10 if I'm correct.

the 2 QBs will likely go in the top 5 but part of that is being a QB
I’d say 2 or 3 OTs and Williams from Georgia?

i sure hope they both go top 10. I've read there were only about 15 guys have a true first round grade. True meaning 1st round regardless of class. I was guessing at the ten listed and wondered if anyone knew of a scouts list.

Sheduer and Ward will go top 10 but are not graded 1st round.
The 15 or so number varies by scout, but in addition to the guys you listed, I have seen different guys with Banks OT/OG Texas, Egbuka WR OSU, Burden WR Missouri, Williams Edge Georgia, Campbell OT LSU and Walker LB Georgia. That's everyone ive seen listed that high is various lists
