In that order. Maye was taller than all three and his body is just bigger overall.

We all have our own ideas about Drake Maye and more important, when we think he should get the starting QB position.

Right now, Mayo and Van Pelt are taking things very slow. Two things to remember. Drake Maye did not start at QB as a senior in HS, his team's starter got hurt and Maye did the Brady thing for six games. On to NC where he was on the sideline until late 2022 and was the starter in 2023 with a less than stellar surrounding cast.

Now he's the #3 pick in the NFL draft, is 21 years old and just got $24M dumped in his lap. He'll be making $3.3M a year for the next four years. Let's not go there.

At the end of July, real practice starts and two weeks later the preseason kicks in.

No question that Jacoby Brissett will start this game unless an injury befalls him. Quite possibly, Bailey Zappe will get some time as will Drake Maye. If this is a slaughter, Joe Milton will gat a chance to show his wares. I expect the first cuts to follow this game and possibly a Zappe trade.

It's a Thursday night game and according to the early release, only the local Boston NBC will be carrying the game and broadcasting to NBC Philadelphia. Unless the Patriots really look good against the Panthers. Then Prime or NFL Network will step in and broadcast it nationally.
Brissett will start again and Drake Maye, worst case, will play the second half.

If Maye has shown that he's more than capable of handling everything that's been thrown at him, he just might get the start. It would a wise thing to elevate him, just in case the injury bug bites and he has to start in during the season. AND it would not be against a stellar defense. Jacoby might even be given a game to get rady for the start of the real season in two weeks and Joe Milton would get a ton of experience taking over the second half.

Final preseason game is usually for those on the edge to prove they belong, or prove they don't.

Brissett will not get cut.
Maye will not get cut.

That leaves Milton and Zappe. I don't think Zappe will outplay anyone to the point he will take the 3rd QB slot, I believe it will be on Milton to not underplay for the position. If he plays as well as Zappe and is cut, there is no way he makes it to the PS. Zappe on the other hand would probably coast through and be signed again to the PS.

In 2022 Maye was fantastic.

4321 passing yards. 38 TD’s and 7 interceptions.

2023 his stats definitely declined some. It’s like you said, his surrounding roster was not very good.

A decline from 4321 to 3608 seems like running a 4.3 after running a 4.2? At least under these circumstances?

4321 yds/14 games is 308 per game.
3608 games/12 games is 300 per game. Not a huge drop off in per game performance when you factor in the extra two games.

Sorry… but BK is wrong about Maye and his high school career.

He didn’t play his Senior year because of Covid.



His stats for his sophomore and junior years are incredible.
