Just a reminder. Next Monday, May 20th is the first full Patriots team OTA.

Reports are that more than 90% of the roster have already showed up for physicals and workouts.

Also being reported that the entire offensive line has shown up for work in the weight room. May not be the best weight room in the league, but it appears that iron is being pumped. Reports have come out that a large number of the OL was seen running up and down the mountain out back. Security wouldn't allow any videos or attempts to identify the participants. One guy for sure was David Andrews. Looks like they all have read about what a bag of shit they are and are willing to sweat a bit to prove everyone wrong.

Nice video of Milton easily tossing a bomb.

Well that did not look like a bomb at all. But from what I read he throws every pass like its a bomb no touch on anything

5-20-2024 Vo0luntary OTAs Begin Today through Wednesday.

From Patriots.com

Some Patriots news and notes on this Monday:

Back in the Spotlight at OTA’s

The New England Patriots will be front and center today, with the club set to hold its first of three voluntary organized team activities and media members will reportedly be permitted for Monday’s session.

Veterans will be on hand for this one, with the rookies having been in the spotlight previously during the team’s recent rookie minicamp. It should ccertainly be interesting, as Jacoby Brissett will be out there putting in some work, with the veteran beginning the process during the Phase 3 portions of the workout with the other veterans.

For anyone looking at Drake Maye’s play today, any miscues may need to be taken with a grain of salt. Maye and Ja’Lynn Polk spent this weekend in Los Angeles for the NFLPA’s rookie premiere, with the two among 40 players on hand. It ran from May 15-19, which likely means the two spent yesterday flying back to Boston ahead of today’s workout and could be a little jetlagged.

For Polk, he’ll be among receivers getting reps with Brissett, with the veteran looking to build chemistry with his new wideouts in the coming days. How that plays out should be interesting to see, as the expectation is that, barring an incredible preseason by Maye, Brissett will likely be the one under center to begin 2024.

Given what we’ve seen so far, that feels like a tall ask for Maye. Previous practices saw a lot of work with the rookie quarterback on his fundamentals, with Maye appearing very measured and deliberate in his movements from those who watched him throw. That continued into what videos emerged over the weekend, with Maye not looking fluid, still clearly working on the things that the coaching staff put an emphasis on.

As the youngest of the top prospects, it was clear that Maye was going to be a work in progress. That’s also why many will have to remember that this is a marathon, not a sprint. It’s more important to ensure he takes the right path to grow into the player everyone hopes he’ll become, regardless of how long it takes for him to get there. Even if he looks a little robotic, the hope is that these efforts will allow him to move away from some of the habits that plagued him in college.

Very quick note about OTA.

Anderson and Reiff were present but were only in on 3 7 on 7 and 11 on 11 each. Zappe was the QB when they were playing.

More playing guys for potential draft picks??

Absolutely nothing was said about the fact that Drake Maye, Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker were out on the practice field for more than an hour running routes after Tuesday's OTA. It was reported that they were at the far end of the field and the media was kept from filming and trying to see what they were doing by security.

May be nothing. No one knows who was the leader. Breer thinks that Maye wants to get a feel for the two rookies' speed and cutting styles.

None the less, it's s good sign that that the three took time to work out without coaches.

$36.6 million

The contract is worth $36.6 million over four years, including a $23.5 million signing bonus, per Spotrac. Maye is expected to eventually become the starter, but whether that's by Week 1 of his rookie year -- or in his first season at all -- will depend on how the rest of the offseason goes.

Holy shmoly..........................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The offense and defense played almost ninety minutes of 7 on 7 and 11 on 11 football yesterday.

Reports from the practice were telling everyone that Drake Maye had a horrible start. Two incompletions on wheel routes and a complete "WFT was that?" on crossover right to left incompletion. Then he got his shit together.

He hit a thirty yard seam to Hunter Henry running to his left that even the defense was surprised.

Then came the play that froze the field. Defense was blitzing and Maye made a TB12 like move in the pocket and fired a forty yard laser that hit Tyquon Thorton in dead stride after a hitch and go leaving the defense five yards behind him. "Breath Taking." was one comment. "Where the hell did that come from?" was another comment. Needless to say, TT realizes that that he's got to step it up a notch and he certainly got everyone's attention. From that point on, TT caught everything thrown anywhere near him.

One final question came after the practice. "Was a future #1 WR born yesterday?"

Interestingly, After the practice ended, Maye, Polk and Baker were still out on the field running deep routes.

Saw some footage of the practice but not any of the stuff that was reported. No media filming allowed of the 7 on7 or 11 on 11 sessions. Milton was not at the practice. A section of film was shown with all four QBs walking side by side in helmets. Without question, Maye is taller and bigger than the other three.

Great, would really like to see him succeed.

Bigger than Milton?
