I guess we got to love the injured free agency players Holmes signs.

How good is Marcus Davenport?

When healthy, Davenport is a helpful contributor on the defensive line. “When healthy” are the key words here. Davenport has had a grueling list of injuries since he arrived in the NFL. Since being in the league since 2018, he has yet to play a full 16/17 game season. The most games Davenport has ever played was 15 back in 2022. Here are the list of injuries Davenport has had since entering the NFL in 2018:

  • 2018: Fractured thumb, missed two months from June to August
  • 2018: Toe sprain, missed three games
  • 2019: Lisfranc fracture, missed final three games
  • 2020: Elbow and toe injuries, missed first four games
  • 2020: Concussion, missed one game
  • 2021: Shoulder injury, missed four games
  • 2021: Shoulder injury, missed two games
  • 2022: Calf injury, missed one game
  • 2023: Ankle injury, missed game
  • 2023: Ankle injury, missed 11 games
Another thing to mention is that Davenport had five offseason surgeries back in 2022, with two being on his shoulder and three on one of his pinkies, which ended up turning into a partial amputation. So, yes, Davenport is constantly hurt and dealing with injuries.

His best season was back in 2021, when Davenport had a career-high 39 tackles, nine sacks, nine tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. That year, he had an 88.8 grade according to PFF. Since then, it’s been a downward trend for Davenport with just 36 tackles, four tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks in 2022 and 2023 combined.

While only playing in four games last season, Davenport got a 55.4 defensive grade according to PFF, along with a 52.3 run defensive grade, 27.4 tackling grade, and a 60.1 pass rushing grade. The stats and grades don’t jump off the page, but there are flashes of significant potential littered in his career between the ailments.

Davenport has mostly played on the right side of the defensive alignment since entering the NFL according to POD report.

James Houston lV will be vying for playing time, "if, and a Big if", Davenport somehow is healthy enough this upcoming season for an entire season or even 3/4 of the season.

This will more than help to offset the signing of Davenport and Robertson - possible related comp pick 2025

Good for Ceedy Duce

Starting to wonder if he is really an improvement over Romeo

Happy with Hobbs and Jones starting at CB but now we gotta add somebody since Jakorian Bennett didn't look good as a rookie

You guys are going to love Amik Robertson.

Hated seeing we lost him to FA.
Fans of Raiders have been more upset about the loss if Robertson than fans of Bucs have been about losing Davis, although the 3rd round pick might play into that as well.

Anyway you slice if Davis and Robertson is an upgrade to the secondary, I am hopeful those two wil help Sutton be his best self and Branch takes it to the next level. I would love the Lions to have a league-average secondary.

Davis and Robertson should help a lot and make that dream possible.

The Raiders gotta address the right side of the OL. That is why they let him walk and released Renfrow.

I would like to go after Zeitler but Reader would be a bigger impact and no mention of the former so far.

Michael Onwenu would've been sweet. He's been swapping playing RG and RT, but that was only a dream scenario.

You were high on him as a draft prospect. He could've been a pretty decent replacement at RT whenever Sewell moves to LT. I'm not attempting to get rid of Decker by any means, but the writing on the wall is kind of almost there. Decker has already stated he wants to be here once his contract expires at the end of this year.

I wanted him for RG. Sucked when he stayed with the Pats.

Seems like a good probability seems as though he had surgery on a torn quadriceps and missed the last 3 games of the year. Holmes' perfect type of player to sign. This signing possibility would allow Alim to play more 3-tech. That idea went out the window last year when Buggs decided he would work remotely from Burger King by "have it your way".
