That link above just updated to include the D-lineman depth signing of Dean Lowry.

Love the pickup. Priced at 2 years $6 mill.
Interesting move. Definitely Arthur Smith's doing. Gadget player. Should be able to compete in the WR room and carve out some sort of subpackage role out of the backfield.

Even if he only gets 5 snaps out of the backfield that will play a big part in keeping Harris & Warren healthier.

Is this a sign that the blockbuster WR deal won't happen? Or insurance?

Come to think of it... This might be more of a ST signing than anything. Igwebuike is the only solid kick return specialist they have.

McFarland gone. Olszewski obviously didn't work out. Igwebuike played well enough in the return role. CA3 did punts.

Paying Patterson $3m per year to play RB, WR & KR is a damn good deal.

Kick returns are relevant again after the new changes going into affect this year.
When was the last time they even had a good return man? I was indifferent about Ray Ray and honestly before that was AB?

As expected, as details came out from the trade, and he got his wishes....to one of the worst franchises.

It's strange that he wanted out even after they signed Russ Wilson. His relationship with the staff & the lockerroom was strained, but not beyond repair.

Statistically speaking, he was only 2nd to Mike Wallace in yards during their first 3 years in the league.

Comparing 1st 3 years:
Wallace - 3,206yd & 24 TD
Johnson - 2,764yds & 20 TDs
Burress - 2,606yds & 13 TD
Holmes - 2,587yds & 15 TD
Brown - 2,062yds & 7 TD
Ward - 1,556yds & 11 TD
Sanders - 1,290yds & 5 TD

And Johnson didn't have the peak HOF QB the rest had, nor did he have a good offensive system (Fichtner was his first OC lol). Come to think of it, DJ came into a very shitty offense from the start. The husk of Ben Roethlisberger got hurt his rookie year, playing behind a bottom tier OL & an OC drawing plays with crayons. Would probably be leading this list if he had come just 1-2 years prior.

But it is what it is. Volunteers not hostages. Dude had a shitty attitude.

I think that lack of effort on the Jalen Warren fumble was a microcosm of what he became.

Yep. He was quitting on the team. Very unprofessional, but I sort of feel for him after how this staff mishandled the offense over the last 5-6 years. I've said it before, but it has to be both infuriating & disheartening to work your ass off every year to help your team but have the coaches routinely shit the bed.

I don't blame him for wanting out... Or anyone for that matter.

Totally! Sadly for him the team screwed him in the end shipping him to Carolina. Limiting the deal to the NFC, I wonder if they would have had better offers from the likes of the Chiefs? Granted that would scary if he had a chance to play with Mahomes full-time, I don't blame the Steelers for not letting that happen.
