Sending him to Carolina was a punishment. KC would be a reward.

We've seen that with other trades, like Chase.
When you put it that way, it screams a lot more they were done with him and if they didn't find a taker, he would have been cut.

Agreed. But seeing his tweets last month makes me think the Steelers led this breakup. I'm sure they informed him that they were going to attempt a trade. Then DJ & his agent started shopping to find suitors.

DJ had a fragile ego... Always acted like he was a professional but when adversity struck he became a twat waffle. It became increasingly difficult to defend him.

Would have liked better returns but I'm not sour about it. He was the best route-runner they had, and the only guy capable of creating separation within the 10yd window... Hopefully the new offense has an answer for that. The more I think about it, the more Keenan Allen would make a lot of sense to fill those shoes if he ends up getting released.

Allen would be great grab at this point he would complement Pickens perfectly.
Since they release Williams I wonder if Allen is staying put?

And in Williams would be another nice one to get on a cheap contract since San Diego will be paying him a ton. Unfortunately, with Williams you need a contingency plan if he gets hurt.

The infamous 0 effort play that probably sunk his future with this team.

Tomlin didn't punish him for it. But Khan did.

Lots of talent with Williams, but always hurt. Come to think of it, Keenan Allen has been dinged up a lot in recent years.

I like Williams. But only if this offense throws the ball down the field. If they keep that same bullshit 10-12yds & in type offense then Williams & Pickens will be an incredible waste.

Well another buy low WR candidate is now available:

You can get him on a 1 year 5-6 mill prove it deal, but he is best suited to being a slot receiver. Y'all could get him for that and draft a receiver.

Pittsburgh is fucking phenomenal at drafting and developing receivers.

Y'all should be fine.

Pretty pissed we released Renfrow. Had a great season in 2021, banged up and hurt in 2022, and McDumbass did not use him this past season.

Saved 8.3 mill in cap space (so I get it) and we can go address the right side of the OL, but I loved Renfrow. So clutch on 3rd down, lot of 1st downs when we needed them.

The more I think about it Renfrow really makes a lot of sense but go get him before the Bills do. Even if it means a 2 year deal for 10-12 mill. If you do not believe anything else I say? Believe that.

Allen would love that guy.

Heyward
Benton
Ogunjobi

Depth: Loudermilk, Leal

They still have Fehoko under contract, but frustratingly have never used him. Maybe this year he finally gets a shot. Also have Jonathan Marshall & Jacob Slade. But I know nothing about them.

Seems like DL depth is a glaring issue.

Montravius Adams is still an unsigned UFA. IMO he's not worth bringing back, but wouldn't be surprised if the Steelers do bring him back into the fold.
