I’m just happy so many teams went offense this year, I don’t remember a draft where the first 14 picks were offense … That gave us arguably the best defensive player in the draft at 16 and such a position of need for us …

i didnt say the bad picks were all petes fault, i speculatively asked if pete was fucking up our drafts all those years.

they arent ever going to come out and say "yep pete was fucking up all those drafts". they can deny it and you can believe them if you choose, but the reality is we are in the dark on how the draft went down when carroll was in charge.

but we can make a judgment as the drafts go bye. will schneider do questionable things in round 1 going forward or continue to make sensible picks? if they draft like they did this year consistently, then the general consensus will be that yes pete was behind all the wonky questionable shit they did in those drafts.

I’m sure Pete didn’t overrule John all the time, but he did sometimes… He overruled John with Russell Wilson, John wanted Russ in the second round, Pete denied that move and drafted Bobby Wagner instead, luckily Russ was still around for our 3rd pick… John talked about how nervous he was over that move because he thought someone was gonna nab Russ prior to our 3rd pick ..

Not some times, Rarely or as JS said " he let me do my thing, He Very rarely used his power".

I give this draft a C- grade. We got one player that should be a starter and the rest might not even make the team. Then again my opinion and 2 dollars is worth 2 dollars. I am not one of these people that think their opinion is gold, We got enough of those on this board. LMAO

Our 3rd round pick should make the team but I am keeping my fingers crossed that he is good enough to start. College Olineman in todays day and age just are not good or ready to play in the NFL with so many teams running the spread offense.

The depth in this draft was some of the worst we have seen in a long time. Normally you got some good players left after the 2nd and 3rd rounds. That really wasn't the case this year.

Ok i need to add context to my grade above before some of you do what you always do, attack.

This draft was SO WEAK that some of the players taken in the 1st round were 3rd round talents! Yes the WR class was strong and so was the QB class BUT the QB class is ALWAYS over drafted and the fact that Nix and Penix both went in the 1st round when they are 2nd round or 3rd round QB's should tell you something. There was just a big drop off of talent after the first 30-50 players. That drop off normally would be closer to the 100-120 range.

I don't know if this is because of the NIL or Covid giving players extra time or what but the depth of this draft class as a whole was pretty weak. I mean think about it. No stud Safeties, 1 TE, No real stud CB's no stud Linebackers ( standup ) or RB .. it was a weird draft class that was light on talent in MOST positions.

I'd give this draft a solid B since we didn't have a 2nd rounder but seems like a lot of holes filled. Good start to the new era.

I would consider L. Williams into this draft since we gave up a 2nd to get him... It will be fun to watch LW and BMII playing side by side...

About mine too.

Murphy was A+
Same with Hayes
Barner was A-
Prichett B+
Utah Tackle B-
James B
Jerral C

Pritchett was an A+... He could've easily gone in the 3rd round but there was huge run on DB in the 2nd round and I think a lot of teams forgot about him or just started reaching with terrible selections until the late 4th where Baltimore/KC took good values... Pritchett was the next one lol. Not sure wtf everyone was thinking about in the 3rd and early-mid 4th round when it came to DBs.

I feel like he'll win the job and take over for Woolen... Woolen's sloppy tackling last year didn't set well w/ me....

He shouldn't have to be tackling runningbacks that were effectively running free or offensive lineman that were pushing everyone but Williams so far off the line of scrimmage.... Woolen is still one of the better cover covers in the league. He should 100% be out there.

You do know that DB's are asked to tackle RB's, right... ;) They are huge in run support on the edges...

Yes, and Woolen was okay tackling in 2022.. and then Carroll put together a defense that had no beef whatsoever up front and expected every player in the secondary to tackle like Witherspoon which also annoyed me because at Witherspoon's size he's going to be injured non-stop. He already went out last season in the 9ers game and missed games.

Woolen is fine when he isn't trying to tackle someone with a 300 pound Onlineman pushing him around. To many people were to easily getting to the 2nd level and thats what makes a running game successful. THATS one of the big reasons our run defense was so bad. Need better Dline and linebacker play to keep people clean.
