Brook Lopez got 1st team all defense last season.

What are we doing here people?

It is 2024.

Big men have to be able to move their feet.

When are we going to stop giving accolades to the big who blocks the most shots?

Be better.

Hopefully Gobert in the playoffs means this is the last time we have to hear this type of narrative.

These old fashioned centers should be getting defensive accolades anymore.

I'm sure his age has something to do with it. He is 36, the Bucks are an old team. At some point they have to transition to a rebuild around Giannis, it is only a matter of time. My guess when Dame is gone this will happen.

He is a slow footed big man

Has a very nice skill set.

But it is crazy that he got that accolade last year.

He played a role that used his length exceptionally well.

But Brook Lopez was not one of the 5 best defensive players in the league.

Detroit is actually a better spot for JJ. Or at least a safer spot if he values a long term coaching career. Got the Duke connection with Langdon, but that's a minor point. The major point is its a young team in need of direction. He can grow as a coach as they grow as players. And so far Langdon and Detroit have indicated they want to give the next coach a lot of leeway because they know the mess they've been in for years.

Haven't heard much on Mitchell extending any time soon. Other than more now saying they think he stays on a 3 year deal with an option for a 4th (maybe has to do with able to get a lot more after 10 years?).

I'm good with the money, but not the years. This is another contract that makes it easy to fire him in 2 years. The players, fans, media, etc. need to know that the coach is going to be there a while and have time to establish a culture.

This just says they'll be fine with firing him in 2 years. Just like every other coach since Phil.
