Grey Zabel is currently who I would like with the pick. Play guard until Ragnow is ready to retire and then we have the new center ready to go

Zabel is one of those guys that fits the bill for us. he can play all over the line. He is expected to be there by our pick but I am not comfortable using a first on him.

Jake Majors seems like a good fit too. Pat Coogan maybe. Jake seems to have the personality too.

I actually think Zabel is one that will rocket up the boards and not likely to be there when Lions pick.

Right now he is a small school prospect, but I think he crushes the combine, and the tape he put up at the senior bowl make him go mid 1st.

Combine is always a wild card. I would be OK with Majors if so.

Lions just lost their director of scouting advancement to Notre Dame.

Been a rough off-season so far.

I didn’t watch any of the combine, but I did catch a little on the interviews/talking heads/reports. Holmes emphasizing talent over need was good to hear, along with a commitment to prioritize the trenches. What that means to me is they are ranking players by how well they would be a Lions player, and then how that intersects with the goal of keeping the trenches stacked with talent.

The moves that are made in free agency will tell a lot about how Brad and Dan‘s building efforts. Although it’s tempting to go after high name recognition talent, I’m curious to see how they find or keep the culture fit guys that the team thrives on. Given the high number of injuries last year, that regular season record came about because the team consistently got the best out of the players they were able to field. I’m hoping that the organization this year can take make the last game they play in the post season and a victory.
