2024 Free Agency and Free Agents Signings

Until next week, thought I'd take tyhe free agency discussion a little sideways.

Here's a list of free agents that I wouldn't have any argument with signing or re-signing (bolded)

QB - Baker Mayfield, Joe Flacco
RB - Devin Singletary, Derrick Henry
WR - Gabe Davis, Tyler Boyd
TE - Hunter Henry, Gerald Everett
OT - Mike Onwenu, Jonah Williams, Tyron Smith, Donovan Smith
Edge - Josh Uche, Za'Darius Smith
CB - Kenny Moore, Jeff Okudah
S - Kyle Dugger

If this front office could re-sign the four ex-Patriots and pick up a second OT and TE and most important a bridge QB, This team might be ready to challenge for the top of the AFCE. Might not win it, but could have a real impact on who does win it.

The Bucs signed him to a two-year contract that will pay $52 million with about $35 million guaranteed.

That sets the line for WRs this year. $26M per year.

Personally, I'd rather draft Daniels or Maye and then sign a guy like Brissett.

Brissett is horrible IMO. SIgn Daniels and make Daniles, Mac and Zappa batttle it out.

Just curious, do you think Mac and Zappe are both better than Brissett?

The reason I said Brissett is because we can likely get him cheap and he has a lot more experience than our current QB's.

Yeah I feel like both are better. Personally I think Mac is the type QB that can go to a team with a decent line an WRs and have success. Mac got fucked over by BB or Kraft at this point I am not sure. But he had little help and no consistency from the coaching standpoint. Now if the intent is to draft for the future and let Mac walk then sure bring in any schlepp veteran because if you draft a QB that high he better be NFL ready and team better be ready to commit to him being QB1

But Cousins really wouldn't be a "bridge" QB. Seems most still consider him a franchise QB that would demand some $$$.

Bucs had $43.9M before signing Evans. If his contract is an even 2 year split, that leaves them with $17.9M. The guarantee must be split evenly so that's $17.5M. If he say, takes a $10M salary in 2024 They might have enough to keep Mayfield but won't be able to do much more and Evans will have a $33.5M cap hit 2025. Then again no one gives a shit about the future.

Wouldn't that be shock if Maye went first, Daniels went second and Williams was suiting there at #3 after all of the dust settled. Still trade #3? Think of the haul of picks and players that the Patriots might be able to get. At least 3 firsts, a bunch of picks and maybe a WR AND a DB. Raiders, Seahawks, Broncos would be interested, especially the Raiders. Hell, the Rams might jump in the mess.

I'm ok with Drake Maye though I prefer Daniels. Trading back a little bit and taking the dude from Michigan would be ok too.

I think it was Charlie who said if Williams is there at #3 you gotta take him. I agree with that.
