Is it time to kick up the 'Dolphins are rebuilding again' topic?
I would think so!

"At what point does the firework factory burn down? Tyreek Hill is coming off his most impactful season as a pro but also just turned 30 years old. Raheem Mostert is 32 and free agent signee Odell Beckham Jr. will be 32 in November. De’Von Achane averaged nearly eight yards per carry as a rookie but only played 300 snaps thanks to injury.

The offensive line that cleared a path for a league high 5.1 yards per carry has to replace two thirds of its interior starters now that Robert Hunt and Connor Williams are no longer on the roster (Hunt is the more significant loss there). What happens if opposing defenses catch on to McDaniel’s wizardry and shut down the fast-acting passing game that served Tagovailoa so well (his 2.26 seconds from snap to throw were lowest in the NFL) and force him to cycle through his progressions on a regular basis?"

Ryan Tanneyhill going to be watching preseason intently looking for a QB to go down with an injury and have his agent call the team at halftime.

I feel that what the Dolphins have on offense is pretty typical turnover with most teams. Probably entering the year with two question marks in pass protection and one in run blocking. Seems like a median oline with potential to be good. If Hill and and Waddle are lining up at WR thats about as good as anyone else. RB position has high upside, low floor.

I'd actually say CB position is in the same boat with Fuller and Ramsey both flirting with 30. Calais Campbell seems like he has to regress at some point, too, but if he doesn't thats a big piece. Not hard to imagine the defense kind falling apart.

Still, if we're talking about Dolphins, its a conversation about Tua. Good player. Franchise QB?

I'm betting against the O-line improving.
Tua is good but I think the league will catch up with his quick release game this year. He will need more time.....

So, Tannehill to the Jets in mid September?

The O-line needs a new center, Connor Williams is gone.now.
The plan is to use Aaron Brewer, who was jettisoned by the 6-11 Titans.

"Brewer permitted six sacks (second most among centers) and 34 pressures (third most) in 622 pass-blocking snaps for the Tennessee Titans last season. Williams, conversely, permitted one sack and six pressures in 280 pass-blocking snaps, per Pro Football Focus."

That is another net loss for the Miami O-line.

"The Dolphins could certainly benefit from a rookie standing out on the offensive line after losing right guard Robert Hunt in free agency. Ohio State’s Matthew Jones is a pure right guard, while UTEP’s Andrew Meyer could work at center and guard,. Ireland Brown from Rutgers is another rookie free agent"

Remember when casuals questioned Philly trading Reddick? Clearly they saw trouble coming.

I can’t believe the Jets make a trade for a player that’s disgruntled and looking for a contract without having a contract in place. That’s a Jets move if I’ve ever seen one.

You think he sits out?

I don't.
He should. This is his last chance at a payday. He’s been a top 5 pass rusher over the last 3-4 seasons and has never been paid at that level. He’s on the last year of his deal. If I’m an agent I tell my guys with options and with production that they should never play on the last year of the deal.

I think 3 years 70 million with 45 guaranteed is fair for him.

I’ve read a lot of stories about Reddick and something is off here. Teams normally don’t trade double digit pass rushers and this guy is on his fourth team. There were rumblings during the Philly collapse last season that Reddick only cared about his sacks and was not playing his actual assignments.

You can’t trust those sorts of stories out of Philly ever since the DeSean Jackson is in a gang rumors were started. The defensive room last year was a mismanaged mess. Not surprised as Rome is burning a player who is underpaid was saying let me go get mine.

Surprised to see he is only worth 10-15 million after 7 years in the League. However, this will be his 3rd team since 2021? That's off for a player of his caliber.

He wouldnt get a fraction of the contract he is after if he sits out this offseason.

After a year off at the age of 30, no one is going to give him more than a single season prove it deal.

And its not like he becomes a FA anyways if he sits out a year. It is why we have never actually seen a player sit out for a season.

He doesnt have nearly the leverage that he thinks he does. But Jets might just cave either way to make him happy though. It really comes down to whether they want to pay him for 12 games this year.....or for 17 games the next two seasons (if his demands are reasonable).

Can the Jets franchise Reddick next summer if Rodgers retires?

Unaware if you can franchise a player you traded for if that is just players drafted by their original team. Not fully aware of that tag.

He was originally miscast in Arizona. He is a pass rusher and a pass rusher only. Early on in Arizona they were trying to force fit him as an off ball LB. Then it came time to pay him and they didn’t want to do it. Because he didn’t have much of a track record the Eagles got him relatively cheap for his production. Coupled with the fact that he grew up over the Delaware River from Philly in Camden.

His leverage is the Jets have already pushed their chips in with AR. That’s a win now move. They have little other choice at pass rush. If the Jets hold fast, then for sure, Reddick suffers for what you point out. However, the Jets are a garbage organization and will likely lose this game of chicken if Reddick holds out.
