Fair enough - I’m just not high on Dallas after they didn’t do much in the offseason. The Rams look improved on defense actually although the loss of Aaron Donald will obviously hurt but they added in some good pieces and the Rams offense looks really strong. The Cowboys are always kind of unpredictable - they have some really good players but their edge rush and particularly their rushing game are concerns. Also the Cowboys seem to have a huge home field advantage and play much better in Jerry World than on the road.

You never know, maybe Donald decides to come back for the playoffs. Doubt it, but that door is open.

paying a 36 year old guy, coming off an Achilles injury, 40 million per year on a 4 year deal.

At least the team that did that also added a "youngish" rookie QB that can step in as needed and take over in 2 years. And everyone pointed and laughed.

Dan Jones isn't garbage. He isn't a top 20 QB but that doesn't make him garbage. I think the Giants are better off not spending tag money on a mediocre RB like Barkley. For sure it's a below average roster but it's a 5 or 6 win team unless they get injuries or they totally implode.

Without Kirk you would have been complete dogshit. You even agree. Lol. Clueless.

Stop acting like you know my team better than me. You read a box score or Kirk is on your fantasy football team. That is the extent of your Vikings knowledge and you know it.

Paying Kirk a quarter of the cap and being unable to upgrade the defense year after year lead to mediocrity.

I do. You watch with a weak eye. If you weren't so clueless about Kirk Cousins I wouldn't have to educate you.

The Colts will make the playoffs this year.

Them and the Texans will fight for the AFC South for years to come.

The Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence will be an afterthought in the NFL.

I’m just not sold on Anthony Richardson - he has never been impressive to me, I watched him pretty closely with the Gators and they weren’t very good the year he started - he showed flashes of potential and he has great athleticism but he didn’t put up great numbers. It just shows how desperate the Colts were to get a steady QB that they drafted him in the top 5 because he is completely unproven. Wouldn’t shock me at all if he turns out to be a big bust.
The Colts do have a talented team overall though and if Richardson has a good year they are definitely a playoff caliber team. But I have no confidence in Richardson.

The Jags are getting written off a bit early IMO - it’s popular right now to shit on Trevor Lawrence just because he hasn’t been elite, he’s decent though and I think the Jags can make the playoffs this season. Depth is kind of a concern in places for them and their D-Line was rather weak last year but they have a decent team.

coming out of college. I completely agree with you about Richardson. However the colts seemed to be getting in a groove before his injury. He was doing better than I was expecting. So there could be a decent chance he plays well enough for the Colts to make the playoffs if the rest of the team stays on par.

As far as the Jags. They kinda dismantled parts of their team. Trevor isnt the kind of QB to just carry a subpar team to the playoffs.

If Caleb Williams is a bust, that would be the norm in Chicago.

But if he's not?

I think I'll take the opposite side. I think the Jags roster is pretty solid and the Colts linger in third place.

I think the Colts actually have a slightly better roster overall than the Jags aside from the QB position, but the QB position is the most important one and I think Lawrence is solid while I have zero trust in Richardson. So right now I think the Jags have a slightly better shot at the playoffs than the Colts but both can contend. The Titans look like the weakest team in the division and they will look different with a new coach and without Derrick Henry, and I also don’t have a lot of trust in Will Levis, but if Levis is solid the Titans offense could be very good - Hopkins, Ridley and Boyd are a stellar receiving trio.

That whole division can be summed up with the QB position. Stroud is him. Lawrence is probably going to be somewhere between the 8th and 15th best QB for most of his career if I had to guess. Richardson and Levis could be anything but Richardson is younger and even more freakish than Levis so it does put the Titans 4th in the pecking order. Probably.

What the Jags are doing on offense make sense to me. Lawrence has a really solid EPA on deep balls. They went out and got some deep ball WRs. They still have Kirk who is decent. ETN and Engram are likely the engine of the team and the deep ball would create for space for them to cook.

Jags defense also has some real upside to it. It wasn't all that great last year so having a good defense would be a huge improvement to their team.

That being said, the caveat to all of that is that the Colts have this massive variability on offense. Jonathan Taylor could be an MVP. Could be just a guy. AD Mitchell was super productive in college with a small sample size but whats that look like in the NFL? If the Colts hit then it probably looks a bit like the Cowboys when Zeke and Dak emerged. Personally I would probably bet on Taylor being great and against the other two being great but there is a wide range of possibilities.

Looks like the Titans signed Jamal Adams this week.

Dude is still just 28....if he is finally healthy that is a low risk/high reward pickup. His first few seasons he was pretty good in Seattle but been banged up the last 2.

The Titans defense has been rebuilt on the fly too. I think they go into the season as the 3rd best team in the South.

Not sure what to expect out of AR and Levis showed flashes last season.

I think the Colts have a slightly better roster than the Titans overall - the defense is more complete and slightly more talented IMO. I would put the Colts 3rd in the division and the Titans 4th. I’m really not sure what to expect from Richardson or Levis, neither one impressed me a lot in college. Really I could see all 4 teams in the AFC South being in the race for the playoffs, they all have solid rosters overall. It should be a competitive division.
