I just think Herbert is overrated.

I've been thinking that. My friends destroy me and say I'm a hater. At some point though, despite his elite anticipatory throws and arm strength, the wins aren't pilling up

When will we understand wins arent all on the qb ? Even elite qbs can’t win by themselves. Sonny Jurgensen is a HOFer , doesn’t get anymore elite then that but he had a career losing record

I 100% agree with you and Sonny is a great example. I am not sure anymore but this kind of thinking got pushed by media ..... no championships, not elite. Kind of like saying Barry Sanders wasn't elite.

If they want Daniels, they will not trade down to get him. Don’t be surprised if they trade up.
I have a funny feeling Daniels is going to pass Maye and if we want him we will lucky to get him at 4.

Unless I am screwing up Washington has drafted two top 5 QBs: Shuler and Griffin. Both were busts.

I took a look at the QBs drafted top 10 since 2012 still playing.
2016 - Goff
2017 - Mahomes - 10th pick
2018 - Josh Allen - 7th pick
2019 - Murray - 1st pick
2019 - Jones -6th pick
2020 - Burrow - 1st
2020 - Tua - 5th
2020 - Herbert - 6th
2021 - Lawrence - 1st
2021 - Wilson - 2nd
2021 - Lance - 3rd
2023 - Young - 1st
2023 - Stroud - 2nd

Looks like RR and co. missed in 2020. Be careful what you wish for. There are 7 I wouldn't mind having and three of them were drafted in 2020.

I agree, you don't always have to take a QB top 5. It's a gamble for sure. The NFL has evolved into a QB league though.

Remember when defense and a great running back got you to a bowl? You don't always need a top 5 QB, but in today's NFL you almost always need elite QB play to win a Superbowl and more importantly to be good year in and year out.

These are the QBs who have won a SB in the last 20 years. Brady was a 6th rounder, Russ was a 3rd rounder.

Mahomes
Stafford
Brady
FOLES
P. Manning
R. Wilson
FLACCO
E. Manning
Rodgers
Brees
Roethlisberger

I put the QBs that weren't considered elite in CAPS. P. Manning wasn't elite in Denver, but that team was dead until they put him in mid-season.

We will need Howell to be elite. Not having a 1 to 1 TD/INT ratio. If the new regime thinks Howell can be elite, then he should be the guy moving forward. If they don't think he has that capability then they have to look at this draft class.

I've said it and I really mean it. I don't envy the decision of the next GM. He will be tied to it for years.

Scenario A: You're the guy who let Sam get out of the building.

Scenario B: You are the new GM and owner that passed on QB again.

There is a scenario where Sam and the class are all very good or all of them suck for one reason or another.

I'll take scenario C: Draft a QB (Daniels/Penix) and have them sit, but work on the scout teams, get plenty of reps in camp and lots of work during pre-season while Howell gets to start the 2024 season. You give yourself both the opportunity to evaluate your new guy and Howell. Best player wins, after all the goal is to get a definite answer at the position.

You do need a good QB, I won't argue that point. The hit percentage in the first 10 picks is less than 50%. Do you guys see anyone that looks like a sure thing? I do not but that is what a new FO has to figure out. Is it wiser to get a LT or Harrison which seems like it might be more of a sure thing.

Maybe Sam can be the man with better coaching.

I guess that's where my impatience comes into play. I either want to go all in on a QB in the first round or go Harrison/Fashanu and give Howell every chance to succeed next year.

i would have to be convinced that we can build an o/line through FA with names and positions before i look at a qb at 4 .

Misssing with a top 5 pick sets you back for years. RG3/Chase. Harrsion looks like a sure thing. Caleb might have immaturity issues. Daniels doesn't appear to have an NFL build and Maye has been up and down this year from what I've seen. I hear ya.

I think the Oline needs to be a combination of draft and FA ..... although they received two picks for Sweat & Young I think they need to try and get an edge rusher to replace one of them.

It just feels like this team has missed too many times on a top 10 pick. I feel like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

Keim was in the junkies this morning and he said he doesn't see the Skins having four new starters on the line. More like three. Said he could see Wylie moving to guard.

Did say he thinks they bring in a new tackle, center, and guard. Thinks one of the tackles is still here. I assumed Leno or Lucas.

Mentioned needing a signal caller on the back end again. I have a feeling FS is going to be a major priority for this team as well.
