I'm literally the one who started the Sam Howell thread. I've had the kid's back all year. I just don't want the new GM to not look at all options, QB included.
dude they will and already probably have

why am i replacing howell ? .
Howell not going anywhere on this rookie contract. If anything, he will make a viable backup on this team if not the starter. "If", and that's a big "If", we draft Daniels he has to start from day 1.

I was not for the trade to get Griffin. It actually worked out Shanahan drafted insurance in Kirk. Still wasted picks on that trade up to get Griffon.

Long story short had we drafted Hebert or Tua it probably would have been a shit show. This organization just chewed thru players and never maximized talent when they did have it.

I am just going to roll with what the new FO is and does. I want to give them a chance.

I really believe the organization would've destroyed Herbert or Tua. They are fortunate. I thought by now Herbert would be God tier but the coaching sux

Analitycs say pick the O/line but you do risk not getting a Mahomes or Burrow

You also avoid the greater chance of getting a Trabisky or a Winston. This chart tells it all. You are more than likely to pick a bust at qb in the first round than a Mahomes or even a Burrow.

I am becoming more and more in the camp that Drake Maye is going to be more like Danny Dimes from the Giants than a Justin Herbert guy. He struggles with good teams that drop a lot into coverage. It has happened both years that he was the starter. He feasted on the average and cup cake teams and not so much against the schools like NC State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Oregon that were able to drop 8 into coverage and just use a 3 man rush. Sure, he beats them some for some TD's but he doesn't do it all game long and UNC actually lost every single one of those games going back to 2022 when to close the season, they lost to Ga Tech, NC State, Clemson and Oregon and again this year in losses to Ga Tech, Clemson and NC State. He is a good runner but goes down easily in the pocket. Sam Howell is much tougher, a better runner, I think has a better arm. I would rather role with Sam Howell than draft Drake Maye. While I'm a State guy I do know a lot about UNC. UNC has never put a good QB into the NFL prior to Sam Howell

Yeah, I saw after I did that draft that he was likely to return.
