Was it? No one can say for sure because he never bothers to say what the package actually was, just that the Knicks turned it down and didn't want to give an extension. For one, the package may or may not have been too high. We don't know. If it was every asset they have, yeah, too high. But for all we know, it might have been very reasonable. As far as the extension goes, that too, we don't know because he doesn't specify. Is it a full max? What if its something like the Kyrie deal where its less years (3 vs 4 or 5) and comes in at slightly less money than the max? Paul George is still a very good player. The Knicks do have a nice cache of assets to get a star (I'd personally wait to see if Embiid is available in a year) and Paul George is someone that would fit them well. The lack of actual details smells more like a guy riffing off 3rd hand information that likely wasn't even true to begin with.

George is the perfect fit for what they need

So I’m curious what the price was

Exactly. They've got a pretty nice squad right now but are one piece away. George is the kind of guy that can get them over the hump and into actual contender status. I have a hard time believing the Knicks would just up and shut the door on Paul George. That's why I want to see what that price was.

Part of Miami’s problem with pulling off this trade is their own strength as a franchise. They are known for their culture and getting the most out of their players. Well most people are looking at Herro’s stats and envisioning a dip if he leaves Miami. And if his number dip just a little, he just becomes another Jordan Poole.

I just can’t imagine a scenario where Miami is able to pull off this trade….
…..unless the name Bam starts getting brought up.

Someone else is going to trump an offer that only involves picks that don’t come into play for 4 seasons and whatever Herro and Duncan can be spun off for. There needs to be some immediate impact. This trade isn’t about what is best for Portland long term. It is about what gets Portland to the playoffs not this coming season but the following season. Because if Portland isn’t in the playoffs in the next 2 years, the GM who is tasked with making this trade gets shit canned from his dream job.
Don't get it fucked up....I like Bam. But if it comes down to Dame or Bam? Rolling with Dame...in the playoffs with Butler that is a dangerous 1-2 punch.

Bam is what he is, a nice player who can rebound and defend....give you 18-20ppg. But, he isn't capable of winning a series. Dame time is.

Not saying Miami should bid against themselves since Dame wants Miami but if it drags out and was a few months from now? Make the deal to give Butler another HOF'er that can give him what he needs.

I would willingly give my left nut for Dame and be called One Nut 2.0 on here.

And it's a nice nut too.

If they are trading Dame they aren't looking at playoffs anytime soon....

So another reason he will be traded for scraps...if he is traded.
Then he won’t be traded. Looking more likely he’s coming back. He was partying with Embiid Harris and Sixers ownership a few days ago.

Yeah...run it back and let Harden and Harris walk next summer or bring back Harris at a lower number....

Ideally, it’s trade Harden now for value and let Harris walk after this year but if value can’t be had for Harden that becomes the next best thing. I’m just very glad that Morey was disciplined and didn’t extend Harden beyond this year.

You need to add anybody else?

Doubt you trade Harden since he a rental and can't sign an extension..UFA next summer.

I think they definitely need to add. They’ve lost Shake Milton, Georges Niang and Jaden McDaniels. Niang was in the playoff rotation. Their playoff rotation with this roster would look like this if no changes.
Harden
Maxey Melton (either guard)
Harris House (Harris can play 3 or 4)
Tucker
Embiid BBall Paul (BBall Paul can play 4 or 5)

They still need a solid 3 and D wing that can be in the playoff rotation. Springer is a question mark I’d like to see play himself into a role. Furkan Korkmaz is dead weight.

He’s not necessarily a rental. The acquiring team would have his bird rights I believe and can go over the cap to sign him.

Guarantee George expects a max extension
Especially now. If he’s going to come off that demand it will be next summer if it seems like no one is willing to sign him to that number. No reason for him to settle for less now.
