Garland is special but not very likely he will be Lillard in the future. If Mobley was already developed I would do it. You can’t make that trade right now
Mobley angle a good point.....I'd also see what Mitchell thinks about it. Guy may love playing with Garland. Be a serious disaster if Mitchell leaves and we have 35-year-old Lillard. Keeping now 26-year-old Mitchell most important.

That one was Cleveland’s fault.

Everyone was shocked when they took Bennett at 1.

It wasn’t a great draft class at the top. Obviously Giannis and Gobert were in it, but they were not projected as top picks either.

Oladipo was the guy I remember being projected most at 1.

Cavs reached to pick Bennett.
It was an awful pick for sure. But the options being discussed were Porter, Oladipo and McLemore. Latter 2 didn't make much sense with Kyrie and Waiters. I get taking a chance on a potential boom or bust guy in that draft.

What am I missing on the Blazers not wanting Herro? I haven't looked at their roster...Do they have a glut of guards or something?

I get that he's not Dame. But he's an All Star caliber shooting guard. Who couldn't use one of those?

He is a good player that doesn’t really move the needle. Isn’t a strong veteran leader type either.

If I were running Portland I would view him as an asset, but not part of a future core I would want to build around.

Just doesn’t fit their timeline.

What they should have done, if they didn’t want to take another guard was trade down.

Pretty sure they could have gotten Bennet at 5 or 6 if that is who they were set on.

And who knows. Maybe they trade down far enough that nobody they like is there and they decide to take a chance on some lanky athletic kid from Greece.

They also have 11-32 high potential wing players, Herro just creates a logjam

Nobody is going to trade up in a draft that is viewed as all time weak with no clear #1 choice.

Those rule changes are because of Shaq. Which I think settles the debate on who is more dominant.

I would be genuinely curious to see Prime Shaq step out to the perimeter on defense. He was plenty athletic to step out and keep in front of his man, he just never needed to.

This never was a debate about who was more dominant.

The other poster said Shaq would be the best player in the league today.

That means with todays rules.

Put Embiid in the year 2000 and I am taking Shaq.

That wasn’t the debate.

I disagree.

Somebody always willing to trade up.

Might not get a ton in return, but they could have moved back.

I still think the TWolves just need to insert themselves in this trade somehow. They won’t. If they trade Towns they probably want a return over the moon

Considering how high they moved up they likely could’ve traded for holiday too

I am not sure I would want Towns though either.

There aren’t any potential deals I have seen out there that look like a decent deal for Portland

My core point was you are applying what Shaq did when the game was different, and assuming he could not adjust for the modern game. Shaq easily is athletic enough to keep in front of Embiid on yhe perimeter, he never had to, so people think he can't.

No team in a more desperate need of roster balancing than the Wolves. Herro would be a fantastic fit.

Connelly won't admit he was wrong 1 year after destroying the teams future though.

Yep.

6ers would have paid to move up I bet.

Yeah they traded for noel

(Who would’ve gone 1-1 had he not torn his acl in the nit)

They definitely could’ve worked something out to still get noel for holiday

If they were gonna do that they could’ve traded Gobert for like 10th pick to Dallas

Not easy to get teams to trade up in weak drafts, but sure. Griff screwed the pooch and good for him he owned it. Never mind you don't know they could still get Bennett at 5-6.

Giannis comment is absurd as even his own team didn't know what they were getting.
