I think it's best for Portland that they trade Lillard now. I'm not upset by this at all. They weren't going anywhere the next few years and I'd rather see them get assets and build with their young guards. Brooklyn just has better assets for Portland at the moment. I'm sure Portland would want to send Lillard to his preferred destination and I think that's still likely. I just don't think Portland has any interest in Herro.

Brook might have internet in herro though

That won’t put him any closer to a chip.

Wemby would need to be prime Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiimmmy Duncan, year 1.

Remember: Dame doesn’t want to play with a bunch of young guys.

3 things that I could see making it possible.

1. Dame would need to buy into Wemby having a Lebron level rookie season.
2. Spurs using their assets and cap space to bring in some good veteran players.
3. His belief/respect that Pop can put all the pieces together quickly.

Ftr, don't see him going to the Spurs.

I don’t think Dame surprised Portland with this, I bet they knew. It could be they wanted to get Grant locked up before it was announced.

IMO Portland made this moment clear when they drafted Henderson. I think they wanted to let Damian request a trade out of respect and not just put him on the market.

Why would you pay that to grant if you knew dame was leaving?

That would be dumb as hell
Grant is an extremely valuable asset, in his prime.

Still doenst make sense why they paid grant

He doesn’t fit their timeline, hurts the tank

And is wildly overpaid

Maybe. I think Miami could definitely find a 3rd team that would want Herro. It's not a matter of Herro being a scrub, he's just not what Portland needs.

You already got Simon’s, so yeah it wouldn’t make too much sense

Miami would be foolish to give up anything behind Lowry and filler. There are going to be better deals out there anyway. Nearly every team mentioned can craft a better deal than Miami’s best. So if it’s Miami it’s because the Blazers don’t care about anything other than loyalty to Dame.
He just asked out of your franchise. Why would they bend over after being led along, then given a demand like this? I would move him for the best offer made, with minor consideration for his wishes between similar offers.
