It's just great to hear that Brandon Sutter is feeling well enough to attempt a comeback. He's got nothing left to prove and hopefully he saved his money earned to date in order not to have to work again.

Sutter out, Suter in.

@sbb122 when reading this. :D

Seriously though would have loved to see him in Pittsburgh.
Just like Vancouver he would have fit in perfectly as he doesn't like playing on playoff teams. :behindsofa:

Was wondering why he was still available.
He had a decent rookie season skating next to Patrick Kane and then was probably the victim of his own hype a little.

Not breaking the bank for him is good but it's kind of a shit on the wall signing and I'm not sure why that got him a second year but like I always say with these signings, if $1.6m is fucking your cap up you have bigger problems than the $1.6m.

Had a feeling his time back in Montreal was short-lived. But is this really a win for the Red Wings?

EDIT: Missed the 50% salary retain so Petry at 2.3 million is not as bad.

^ Also add as a goalie not sure what d-pairing is scarier in front of them?
Petry with Matheson
or
Petry with Holl/Chariot or Gostisbehere

Detroit's blue line last season before Yzerman took over was Kronwall, Mike Green, Hronek, DeKeyser, Dennis Cholowski and Nick Jensen.

Now I'm not saying what they have now is worse but if it is better it isn't by much and is almost entirely because Seider is good (maybe?). Beyond that, not much to show after 5 years of sucking.

Uggg I didn't look at their d-core in complete detail until now.
If they put Petry and Maatta out there together they might have the slowest pairing in all the NHL. I have seen turtles move quicker than them two.

Didn't realize their core was that bad but it is awful.
