No, because they didn't sign a backup.....which we need with his injury history. Wanted Minshew or Brissett.

Is it still Stidham?

Right now we have Jimmy G and some kid named Chase Garbers out of Cal at QB (next season will be his 2nd in NFL).

Bengals signed S Nick Scott to a three-year, $12 million contract.

Scott had his snaps jump from 36% in 2021 to 97% as a first-time starter last year. The run-stopping safety appeared in all 17 games for the Rams, posting 86 tackles, two interceptions and two forced fumbles. Scott will help replace the losses of safeties Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell in free agency The Bengals have also been linked to Scott's Rams teammate Taylor Rapp this offseason.

NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith believes the league is "taking a stand" on not signing Lamar Jackson in order to prevent quarterbacks from getting fully guaranteed contracts.

“The NFL wants to send a message to all of the stars that they will not get a fully guaranteed contract, simply because other first-ballot Hall of Famers didn’t get them and — if they can help it — because Jackson didn’t get one, either.” Smith calls the lack of interest in Jackson a coordinated effort from the league to keep guaranteed contracts from becoming a trend. Jackson getting a guaranteed contract would lead to fully guaranteed deals for Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow, and Jalen Hurts. The league-wide backlash from the Browns' Deshaun Watson contract has left no team interested in even talking to Jackson on the non-exclusive franchise tag.

here's another article discussing Smith's remarks. For some reason, they choose to completely ignore the fact that a team would have to give up 2 #1 picks to sign Jackson. Presumably, that is a big deterrent for quite a few teams.

Rookie salaries aren't where they were pre 2010 CBA and thery're increasing at a lower rate than the salary cap. That should make 1st round picks increasingly more valuable.

Interesting that the trade value was essentially based on what the Cowboys got for Cooper last year. Guessing the Cowboys FO just wants a redo on that one.
I get the similarity, but not really. They didn't want Cooper any more and he wasn't worth $40M for 2 years. He was 100% going to be cut if they weren't able to trade him. Cooks a little less for them at $31M over 2 years or even less if Hou takes on some of the 2023 cap hit. Also, they have a lot more flexibility under the cap this year than they did last year and especially after Zeke's salary portion of his cap hit clears on 6/1. Plus with Schultz likely gone a 3rd WR is much more of a need this year.
