Gauthier is a great player, but Drysdale is not that much inferior of a prospect (especially if Gauthier is a long-term winger, and coincidentally in their press release Anaheim announced him as a left wing), he’s just been hurt a lot with only 18 NHL games played since the 2022 season. At the top of his game, he looked like a projected top pair defenseman in the NHL due to his elite skating combined with strong puck-moving ability although he’s not that big. When healthy as he has been for the last few weeks, he looks like a minute-eating defenseman. It’s easy to forget how good he looked as a teenager coming up a few years ago in the Ducks organization.

It's not just that though, when the trade deadline comes were either going to have to unload quite a few players or eat a shit sandwich in the off season. They've made it clear that they are not going to sacrifice long term gains for short term results. I would expect 2/3 more guys to be gone before the trade deadline. I guess I'm not really getting what this management has done that would make you mad. They seam to be executing a plan to get younger, shed salary, and get deeper with talent.

This trade means at least one Dman has to go maybe 2 with Oliver Bonk ready to play in the NHl after having a very good WJC. I would expect Frost may be gone as well. Just my opinion.

I just love the fact that Drysdale is ranked higher than Gauthier. Suck it Cutter!!

If Drysdale can turn our PP around and shake the injury bug this trade will be a steal for us.

Drysdale is a number 6 pick and gauthier is a number 4 pick so even swap there plus a very high 2nd round pick.

The rush to get rid of him was brought on by Puss Gauthier not wanting to play in Philly. If that got out there we would gotten peanuts for him in a trade.

Briere mentioned this in his press conference yesterday. Basically said they thought his value was at a peak after being named the best forward in the tournament at World Juniors.

Plus the trade deadline wouldn't really impact him too much. He's a future-type add. The deadline is all about the cup believers unloading future assets for help now. The Flyers were looking to move future for future, so probably dealing mostly with the non-believers, where the deadline isn't really impactful.

Also I think I saw one of the big media guys say they had spoken to 18-20 teams about a potential Gauthier trade. Tried hard at the draft to get the #5 pick from Montreal was a specific example.
