The NE Patriots have positioned themselves in very bad corner. They've lost players that allowed them to achieve a good season last year and can't replace them.
This happens every year.
Literally.
Sometimes they walk, sometimes they get traded, sometimes they bitch their way out of town, and sometimes Bill just doesn't want them back.

And it happens to every team, every year, it's called attrition. And all teams have players in reserve they feel are ready for a bigger role and they transition in. Losing players in the NFL is not as drastic as it sounds.

I could be totally wrong here but I would imagine a media gig talking about football strategies is a helluva lot less stressful than building an NFL franchise. Maybe it's as simple as Scott made enough money already and would prefer a simpler existence?
Working for Belichick is a 16 hour a day job......

FYI: Interesting note about TB12 and the Dolphins, "No trade info yet."

Great inside info on Trent Brown's contract and potential fits for the Patriots in the Draft.

On top of that, you better be willing to start early and stay late.

Not including breaks for breakfast, lunch, dinner, bathroom or travel time to and from.

Wow!
Not my words.
Brady, Lawrence and Slater.

“I feel very fortunate to have coached two of the best at the position that have ever played,” the Patriots head coach told reporters at the NFL Annual Meeting in Palm Beach, Fla. “Certainly Matt Slater would go up there in the kicking game with Brady on offense and Taylor on defense. So I feel very, very fortunate to have had the opportunity to coach all of the players, but I’d say those three in particular.”

We are sitting on some cap space that has time left to be cut. Quite a bit actually.
Example: we can adjust Jonnu Smith contract and can afford to lose him if he won't budge.
There are some cuts coming that we do not have to cut yet. Ex: Joejuan Williams, N'Keal Harry, etc.

Assuming players are willing to restructure their contracts... But yes.... Using "Cap Space" as to why they aren't signing players is a complete JOKE! It easily can be worked around

Happy for this signing.

"Judge utilized Peppers in a variety of roles on the defense. In 2020, he lined up mainly in the box (383 snaps) and as a slot cornerback (264) to go with free safety (143), defensive line (77) and outside cornerback (44). That was his best season, statistically, when he finished with a career-high 91 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 11 passes defended and an interception. Last year, in six games, Peppers mainly played slot cornerback (107) followed by in the box (60), defensive line (32), outside cornerback (19) and free safety (11)."
