This fight didn’t start with a sucker punch either.

Words exchanged, who said what we probably never know.

Draymond got in Poole’s face, Poole shoved him, and Draymond punched him.

Call it a sucker punch if you want, but every fight I ever saw started with someone escalating it to punches. That was Draymond.

Dray’s punch was not the first action.

If we go by a very broad definition of the word action, then I agree that anything can be an action, included saying words, but Draymond is the one who made aggressive actions. And when do words justify or excuse violence? Unless Poole threatened Draymond's life or the lives of his family members, it doesn't matter what Poole said.

That's an interesting aspect. How much do you focus on the intent as opposed to the result? Based on the video, it seems like Draymond's intent was to do serious damage. Poole is lucky that he's not hurt.
I have never seen anyone throw a punch without intent to harm.

It's obviously results oriented. If Draymond's swing misses, we're not talking about this today.

Well if we found out we would be laughing at the miss

What are the precedents on swings and misses during NBA games? If we know that, then maybe we can get an idea on how much weight/extra punishment is given because of the result as opposed to the intent.

Some punches are thrown harder than others. Is a jab the same as other punches?

Draymond's totally got this. He'll beat up a little guy every single time. Put him in against Nate Diaz.

Plenty of swing and misses. Obviously a different time but I think Shaq almost killed Brad Miller back in the day. Serge Ibaka and James Johnson threw punches at each other, neither connecting cleanly and each got a 1 game suspension in 2018. Same season Aaron Afflalo got a 2 game suspension for throwing a punch at Nemanja Bjelica. Robin Lopez and Serge Ibaka (again) threw punches at each other in 2017 and each with a 1 game suspension.

So that's recent precedent on the matters of results.

Exactly spme people on here will always find a way to defend him. Guy been a trash talker is entire career but now we should be concerned about what Poole possibly said to him? Don't dish the trash talking if you cant take it. Had this been a guy who isn't a trash talker then we can roll with that lame ass excuse

I mean, he threw a punch.

So, his intent was to fuck him up.

Based on the outcome * no missing teeth, black eyes, broken nose *, I don't think it will be more than a few games.

...and again: Video changes things.

Remember when Mixon hit that girl in College?

Everyone thought he was a bitch, pre video.

But, after it came out!

Absolute piece of dog shit.

Still, he didn't get punished as harsh as he should have.
