It is much better than what Robinson or Godwin will get. They are over 15 mil/yr

It would still be expensive at nearly 12M annual average per year if that's what it'll take and depending how contract is written with possible early out.

I'd rather see Holmes draft a potential WR1 at a much lower cost than going the route of Free Agency.

@Old Lion You can keep the following link in mind that I posted a couple of weeks ago when thinking of signing an UFA WR

Over the last four seasons of free agency, just two of the 32 premium free agents (total contract value of at least $8 million) at wide receiver have topped 1,000 receiving yards. Only four have caught at least 70 passes in the first season with the new team.

Wagner does not fit the timeline, but I bet he could teach Barnes a lot. Not sure that amount is worth the lessons, but I like thinking about it.

I agree with like the thinking and mentoring and not only Barnes but a possible drafted LB.
The $$$ he may want and quite possibly playing for a team that has the roster to compete for a SB probably weighs more than coming to Detroit and ending his career on a team most likely not vying for a playoff slot just yet.

I disagree.
LS Daly should be retained as having 1 year of chemistry and cohesion with Fox Is Imortant.
Tommy Kraemer should be retained also until they come across another option whether it be through UFA or draft. Kraemer is depth for training camp.
PK Riley Patterson performed admirably and should be considered as possible replacement for the other two larger than life PK, Sebert and Rojas.

Retaining any of these ERFA's doesn't create any guaranteed money and in some cases minimal cap hits to absolutely zero cap hit.
I agree with Patterson. Missed him somehow. LS is a dime a dozen. Kraemer had 1 good game and sucked after that.

I wouldnt see CHark as a 1. He would be a 2. Agree we need to draft a 1.

I wouldnt mind Campbell but we will have to keep the price reasonable.

One outstanding year and everyone is slobbering all over him because he made Pro Bowl and All-Pro.
Falcons let him go.
Cardinals let him go.

Thats why I said keep it reasonable. If some team wants to overpay then more power to them. Campbell fits Glenn's defense.

And he had several pretty good years.

Not that it's definitive but. 2017 good season/2021 extraordinary year
He doesn't have a high % of missed tackles versus run (less than 7%) but a bit higher versus coverage

Coming soon to a neighborhood near You

According to OverTheCap.com, the Lions will incur a $12.85 million cap hit for releasing Flowers but will also clear $10.4 million in new cap space for 2022.

McCollum could be competing for the Lions’ backup center job in 2022, as Brown is a restricted free agent going into this offseason.

Week 14 when he started in place of Ragnow’s replacement Evan Brown. But he was also asked to step up in Week 18 after Brown was injured. Unfortunately, he only played 30 snaps before Jonah Jackson shifted over from guard to center.

Berry made five game appearances as a rotational defender, logging 62 snaps, three tackles, and a quarterback hit.

Does not include signing of Reynolds or release of Flowers at this time

It’s not an unexpected move. Flowers is due a $1.6 million roster bonus on Friday, March 18th and the Lions don’t want to pay any more than needed. Depending on the structure of the release, the Lions will save at least $10.386 million in salary cap room for 2022. If designated a post-June 1st release, that figure goes up to $16 million.

Total Cap Liabilities: $202,251,678
  • Top 51: $183,720,892
  • Team Cap Space: $25,793,894
  • Offense: $104,475,149
  • Defense: $85,205,743
  • Special: $4,405,000

Those other two are a different class of player.

But I wouldn’t offer any of the three a deal.
Robinson is getting old and Godwin is coming off serious injury and may not be the same. Robinson still the best of the 3 overall but he is not as good a fit as Chark.

Chark is always hurt. I’ll be pissed if they offer him a deal.

Robinson is atleast a local guy. But I don’t want him either.
