Detroit Lions reportedly turned down Carolina's No. 8 pick this year for Matthew Stafford
Washington and the Panthers were willing to give up first-round picks this year, but Detroit Lions GM Brad Holmes cut a deal with his old team.www.freep.com
Here is a breakdown of some of the trades that are rumored. The only one that sounds like it is significantly better is not really confirmed and the team is not even named. Panthers may have been slightly better, 19 pick from the Redskins is not better, Colts did not even offer a first, 49ers dropped out because they could not match what was already offered.
Here is another article on potential other trades, Section called Trade of the Year is pretty far down, but he does a pretty deep dive into it.

Yes an extra pick this year and next year along with a 3rd and Goff last year. The trade was revered by all in the sports world except you. Lopsided trade in the Lions favor.
We got the 32nd pick…
They could have drafted him and probably would have if Sewell didnt slip. We would not get 2 firsts in the next 2 years and a 3rd last year for Parsons. No LB is worth that.Any trade w Denver or Carolina and we prob have Micah Parsons right now.
Obviously nobody like that available at 32.

No, you would have gotten Parsons instead of the 32nd pick. Definitely would have gotten a 3rd and prob more w that deal too.
Edit: They we’re offered a 2nd along w Lock. Sewell, Parsons and a 2nd. How is that worse than Goff and 32?
First, it was not a first and second from the Broncos. From the article:
The Denver Broncos discussed a pick swap that SI reported "would have equated to a late first-round" choice. It is unclear if young quarterback Drew Lock would have been part of that return for Detroit.
That implies we are giving Stafford and our second for the Broncos pick and Lock.
Second, it is not just the 32 as Lions are getting another 1st. Next years first is a thing no matter how damaging it is to your argument.
Still want to pretend like 32 was the only pick?Idk, Micah Parsons is pretty good. Obviously better than whoever we get at 32.
Seems like Goff was the prize in Holmes eyes, not the picks.
Interesting.
Nakobe Dean might still be around. That is not much of a drop off. Goff is light years better than Locke. And we still get another first next year.Idk, Micah Parsons is pretty good. Obviously better than whoever we get at 32.

Just so we can follow with your fascinating stream of thoughts here.
1. Only you are smart enough to draft Matt Stafford
2. Stafford is Absolute Garbage
3. 2 1sts, a third, and an average QB is an embarrassing haul for a garbage QB
4. The 2nd 1st round pick does not exist in any form because you prefer the unverified trade offer that has to be real because it is the only way to keep selling your bad take.
I applaud your consistency
Two.We won 3 games. How many would we have won w Lock?
Sure you can, and they have moves that absolutely warrant it. You are just grumpy because you lost the argument, you put up Detroit Lions level talent to this and it showed. It’s funny how this board isn’t allowed to question our GM’s.
I would mislabel you as another poster that can't argue without contradicting themselves constantly, but you have no comparison. You are a true original.Ok, TPaul.
Two.
With they would’ve traded for Bridgewater I’d go with three. If they never traded Staff in the first place, maybe five.
This team sucks.
I agreeI edit quotes because my arguments are weak.
