Washington and the Panthers were willing to give up first-round picks this year, but Detroit Lions GM Brad Holmes cut a deal with his old team.

Here is a breakdown of some of the trades that are rumored. The only one that sounds like it is significantly better is not really confirmed and the team is not even named. Panthers may have been slightly better, 19 pick from the Redskins is not better, Colts did not even offer a first, 49ers dropped out because they could not match what was already offered.

First, it was not a first and second from the Broncos. From the article:

The Denver Broncos discussed a pick swap that SI reported "would have equated to a late first-round" choice. It is unclear if young quarterback Drew Lock would have been part of that return for Detroit.

That implies we are giving Stafford and our second for the Broncos pick and Lock.

Second, it is not just the 32 as Lions are getting another 1st. Next years first is a thing no matter how damaging it is to your argument.

Nakobe Dean might still be around. That is not much of a drop off. Goff is light years better than Locke. And we still get another first next year.

You picking up what I’m laying down here? If Holmes is this great evaluator who picked out Kupp and Saint Brown when everyone else missed - me must have also known the Rams would do very very well and stick us w two shit picks. Right?
