The only problem with trades is that we have few players of value to get talent back in a deal and those few players of value are needed. I know that is Dipoto's method, but it is time to start adding without subtracting. Sign free agents!!!!there are more needed..but im hoping for a few trades....soo
Seager's homer and rbi numbers stand up yeah and lets say he ends at 35/100 there, it might one of the lowest WRC+/OPS seasons of a 35/100 guy ever. I really think Toro can step in you at the very least wouldnt lose too much. Plus that is his best position, he's tried at 2nd but he's gonna lose value there long term. I love Seager and if the team wasnt so cheap and they didnt basically throw him under the bus last winter, I'd say just pick up the option. But it seems clear they wont.I would have to disagree with the point of his production not being difficult to replace. He is a 90+ RBI guy and those don't grow on trees. Could Semien replace him? In theory, yes but that only makes us a bit better compared to having Semien and a 90+ RBI guy. I like Toro, but would not put him in Seager's category at this time.

I agree Semien is the one I want. No chance they pony up for Correa, that will be a Yankees move if he's leaving houston or maybe the Padres really go all in since Tatis might be moving to the OF. Seager/Baez/Story are good players but they are gonna get contracts that I'd rather not deal with. For me it is Semien or bust with the top SS's. I would move him to 2B as well. Not big on the others for various reasons. Would take Taylor as a starting infielder/outfielder.
Yea Taylor would be great. Would mean Moore doesnt have to be here either. But yeah just need a guy that play OF and specifically cover CF at times, Taylor definitely can do that.Taylor because of his versatility and being RH. He fits our style with some speed as well. Joc is intriguing. He wouldn't break my heart.
If it were that easy I'd keep Anderson over Kikuchi but I know thats not how things work. Im kinda secretly hoping he pulls a Kaz Sasaki or Johjima and goes home on his own but we will see. He is an intriguing pen option thoughNo more rejects or bounce back types Mariners. Time to step up. Kikuchi probably is back on the player option, and if so, make him the LH stopper in the pen. If he doesn't want that, then tell him not to pick up his option.
I'd definitely prefer Torrens over Murphy I just think Torrens is gonna net you more in a trade so that's why I have Muprhy penciled in to stay.I missed this part above. I actually like Torrens as a platoon bench player who can catch if needed, play 1B and 3B in a pinch. He has probably the only legit power bat from the right side off the bench.
Totally agree here. I don't do all the new fancy stats, but just think 90+ RBI's is hard to replace. Not sure how many guys have hit that mark for us in the last 10 years? Okay I looked it up. We have had 12 players hit the 90+ RBI mark in the last 10 seasons including this year and Seager has 4 of the 12.I really think Toro can step in you at the very least wouldnt lose too much. Plus that is his best position, he's tried at 2nd but he's gonna lose value there long term. I love Seager and if the team wasnt so cheap and they didnt basically throw him under the bus last winter, I'd say just pick up the option. But it seems clear they wont.
Yes except for the Correa part. Agree the player would be nice, but I can't stand the person and what he and Altuve pulled.I agree Semien is the one I want. No chance they pony up for Correa, that will be a Yankees move if he's leaving houston or maybe the Padres really go all in since Tatis might be moving to the OF. Seager/Baez/Story are good players but they are gonna get contracts that I'd rather not deal with.
Yes and easily moved to another position or team if Rodriguez breaks down the door and makes the jump.Yea Taylor would be great. Would mean Moore doesnt have to be here either. But yeah just need a guy that play OF and specifically cover CF at times, Taylor definitely can do that.
100% nailed that.If it were that easy I'd keep Anderson over Kikuchi but I know thats not how things work. Im kinda secretly hoping he pulls a Kaz Sasaki or Johjima and goes home on his own but we will see. He is an intriguing pen option though
Good point, but I am actually not looking at either or. I am considering Torrens just for his bat (I can't believe I just wrote that) off the bench and some DH'ing while being a 3rd catcher, backup 1B, and backup 3B. I think his bat could stick in the right scenario.I'd definitely prefer Torrens over Murphy I just think Torrens is gonna net you more in a trade so that's why I have Muprhy penciled in to stay.
i think if he does that it will be ...bull pen or ..rotation...not as likely...with the rotation though......The only problem with trades is that we have few players of value to get talent back in a deal and those few players of value are needed. I know that is Dipoto's method, but it is time to start adding without subtracting. Sign free agents!!!!
Trevor Story 27 Aaron Loup 32 there own guys Tyler Anderson 31 Yusei Kikuchi 18 Kyle Seager 15 signing there own guys..will not add much more....maybe some..but not..a lot..........of what they are already..spending//other//free agents....will ...up..the anni..(poker) |
That isn't crazy. I think JP is the heart and soul of the team with his hustle and attitude, but he is no Semien though he is way cheaper. I would 100% do what you proposed. Mariners won't, but you nailed it. Crawford should bring back a good piece.Man... Normally when it comes to free agency I have very strong opinions but I feel like this year there are so many variables. Every time I look at this roster I see so many different things that could happen.
This would never happen, but feel free to laugh at this idea: Sign Kris Bryant (3B), Marcus Semien (SS) and Max Scherzer. Keep Toro at 2B, trade J.P. Crawford and *insert prospects here* for another top of the rotation pitcher.
It's nice to dream but those moves I think would make the Mariners legit in 2022.
Luis Torrens 22...catch ..1b/3b...im not sure on torrens ake Fraley 28...........Lf..i dont think they will trade fraley..they need him........ |
From everything I've read he should be knocking on the door to make his debut next year. Obviously not at the start because the service time stuff but I think we really do have a special kid here, even more so then JarredYes and easily moved to another position or team if Rodriguez breaks down the door and makes the jump.
I'm just giving him next year in the minors. He never really showed he could even dominate at AAA so I say let him play there next year.Evan White 12 IL-60..future power ..hitter..makes 1 more......IMO..they wont ..be trading....... WHITE...either..
