Perhaps Torts has assessed the "old" team and come to the conclusion he wants to start fresh with the new prospects whether they can skate or not. So, if they're vets with lingering injuries or simple issues, my bet is they are putting them LTIR to remove them from playing and not violate contract terms or tip-off that idiot Bettman.

Apparently this stemmed from one of our rookies getting his ass beat in the rookie game this weekend.

By all means , react to a situation. Lappy didn’t have anything else in mind to develop the rookies with the time he had.

It would be like me running a lacrosse camp.

I read that somewhere. One of the Swedes was totally lost and apparently had one glove on and one off. Lappy asked Stewart to take the ice and help anyone who wanted it. Looks like all the rookies took part. Really not a bad idea.

D is just about right. It was just a sad attempt to right the ship that Hextal broke.

Name a Swede you have seen in the NHL that knows how to fight. And no it's not a bad idea.

All part of the marketing plan for the season. They've already been rolling the tweets and videos about the history of the team. The Bullies, what they stand for, the glory days, etc. etc. Signing Deslauriers, re-signing MacEwan.

This season is all about distracting the fans from how bad the team is and how bleak the future looks by dusting off the videos about toughness and fighting and how 40 years ago that won them a cup.

Not 100% sure but unless you could move him to LTIR permanently, you'd end up losing pretty badly.

I'm not as good at the rules as I used to be, but I don't think you can buy out an injured player.

Putting him on LTIR season after season covers 90% of the reason to buy him out anyway. The punishments to have a guy like that on LTIR all the time are they have to account for him on the cap in the summer (but can go 10% over the cap), and that they can't bank cap space for any days they spend under the cap (which they're maxed out on anyway, and obviously won't be in a position to be a buyer at the deadline either).

It maybe handcuffs a smart GM going in to a rebuild because it reduces the amount of cap space they'd have at the deadline to take on contenders bad salaries for sweeteners. But even though there are a million examples of that the past few years, I'm sure it hasn't even crossed Chuck's mind that it could be a good move.
