Early odds have Flyers at 50-1 to win the cup next year. 17th best odds implying Vegas thinks Flyers are at the playoff bubble.
This is before all injuries happen. Couts, Farabee, Ellis, Hayes, Laughton im looking at you.

Similarly to the Torts hiring, I'll be pretty surprised if they pass on Gauthier if he's still available. He just screams Flyers/Fletcher pick to me. American. Has size. Fits the 'home run swing' type of pick.

I'd prefer Nemec or Jiricek if they're there, but I won't be mad if they pick Gauthier.

The three names that keep coming up are Jiricek (everyone has Nemec at 4), Gauthier and Savoie. I also see where Gauthier is expected to play center at Boston College next year.

I dont care who it is i just want the player selected to be an impact player for us starting in 2024-25 season or earlier if possible.

Package our #5 pick and JVR for someone's 2nd rounder. Nothing is telling me anyone is going to be an impact payer from this draft.

We have enough guys who only score 10 goals a season.
I would definitely sign him if he was in the $1.35 million range like he is on TB but hes on track to make a lot more so id pass on him. He is a Torts kind of player though.

I would rather see them go after Josh Manson. Big physical RHD. We could def afford him if we hadn't given Ristolainen all that wasted money. There's some decent FAs but we keep handicapping ourselves with shitty long term contracts to average players. This IMO is what is killing us the most.

This is why either Prov or Sanhein need to be traded so we dont have so much money tied up on the back end.

Id like to sign this guy if we ever free up some cap space:

Andrew Copp

Position: C, LW/RW

Age: 27

2021-22 Stats: 21 G, 32 A in 72 GP

The Bruins reportedly had interest in Copp before the trade deadline, but the New York Rangers acquired him instead. He made a difference for the Rangers, scoring 14 points in 20 playoff games as New York surprisingly reached the Eastern Conference Final.

Boston should go after Copp again during free agency. The veteran forward set career highs with 21 goals and 32 assists in 72 games between the Winnipeg Jets and Rangers last season. Copp plays with speed, toughness and he's 27 years old. His most productive offensive years should still be ahead of him.

One of the primary reasons to sign Copp is his versatility. He can play both left and right wing, as well as at center. He can play on the second and third lines with all kinds of different players. This plug-and-play ability would be valuable for a new head coach while he figures out which line combinations are most effective.

If it were me, I wouldn't sign anyone in free agency. The Flyers have enough overpaid bottom of the lineup guys. Shuffling some of them out to sign other overpaid bottom of the lineup guys doesn't help.

Let some of the crappy deals they have expire and save the future cap space to pay actual impact guys down the road. The last thing they need is another 3-5M guy signed for 5+ years. Don't handcuff the '23, '24, '25 teams for 6 more points in '22.

Next year's draft is supposed to be loaded. Just deal with sucking next year and take advantage of the timing.
