It's all about figuring out where we stand right now. Sure, we can't seem to be able to compete with teams like Boston, Toronto and Carolina, but those are arguably 3 of the top 4 or 5 teams in the entire Nhl. We just swept Washington in a home and home, we've beaten NJ twice (home and road) and the Islanders when we were ice cold. We destroyed Buffalo on the road while they were smoking hot. We swept the entire California trip, which included the Kings that are in a playoff position. All of these teams I mentioned have a winning record and most of them are currently slotted to make the playoffs.

We're not going to learn much in the next two games against Anaheim and Chicago, two teams that appear to be actively tanking for Bedard.

So, we should be 20-19-7 with 47 points before going to Detroit this weekend and that team shouldn't overwhelm us.

It would be nice if they gave us back our 2nd and 3rd round picks we have already given to them. 3rd round next year and 2nd in 2024

So latest rumor is Laughton on the trade block. Article I read says specialty players are sought after for the playoffs. Not sure if he would just be a rental but it says a player of Laughton quality could net big rewards. I tend to agree.
If we could get big rewards for him id say its time to go. Hes a good leader but trade him while his value is up would be the right move. Lets see if Fletcher does the right thing.

Absolutely not. Take the compensatory 2nd rounder in 2024 every day of the week and twice on Sundays if you can.

This article is 100% on point. Clark is just as big a moron as Fletcher, he's the one who wanted to give Fletcher more time. For what I have no idea, Fletcher sucks plain and simple. As far as his assessment of where this team is and where it will be next season is also spot on. Growth without talent means zip! I hope something changes soon, it's been to freaking long to be middle of the pack or less, this is just a different way to have the same outcome.

As expected, we take down the Ducks again 5-2. Hayes with the empty-netter to seal it, giving him his first ever hat trick too. Frost also had a gorgeous, top shelf goal from between his own legs and right at the side of the net. He's just a different player right now and it's great to see.

Sure, we are not to be considered a good team, but where the hell does that leave us?

We beat bad teams. We beat below average and average teams. We even beat some good teams that remain in playoff spots. Then, we get absolutely destroyed by the elite teams. How many elite teams are there in the Nhl!? Maybe 4 at the least and 7 at the most. The point is, not very many.

Quite frankly, if we were to keep up our play over the last three weeks for the remainder of the season, I think we would be fighting for a top 3 finish in the division in April.

I can't predict that simply because we're probably going to trade a few players away and that will most certainly change things.

As things stand right this second though, I'd say we're a pretty decent team that is working it's way into being good.

Can we beat teams like NYR, Pittsburgh and NYI? That's what is left to figure out, I'd say.

The daily slaughter of Risto will be suspended for at least a couple days after he bolted up the ice shorthanded to receive a pass from Laughton and take on Stolie the goalie all alone, roofing it rather easily for a 2-1 lead in the 2nd period.

This was perhaps the most critical play of the game as the Ducks had tied it 1-1 just 5 minutes earlier.

Definitely the best sequence I've seen him have as a Flyer. Great hit previously, skated full out to make himself an option for Laughton, super clean finish.

Pretty accurate summation here. The question remains, how do they take the step out of the middle of the pack and start contending with those elite teams? One way or another they're going to have to beat at least a couple of them if they want to win a cup.

Haven't really seen anyone hypothesize this, but I think Provorov's antics last night were in an attempt to add to the list of why he should get traded. Might hurt his stock some though which is definitely frustrating.

Its crazy that saying he respects everyone but refusing to celebrate something you dont believe in would hurt his stock.

This world has become utterly ridiculous. :L

Only if he's going to a California team, lol.

Besides Jake i cant think of a Flyer who has skating ability as strong and fast strides as Tippett since maybe Lindros.
