Just pointing out there is more ways to build a team than just the draft as you claimed.

Flyers take the Caps. Nice win and we are at .500 and we played pretty well against a better team. Nice and hopefully Torts gets them all to totally buy-in.

It's more than that. We just swept a pretty loaded Capitals squad in a home and home, outscoring them 8-4 and have now won 7 of our last 8 games. They have OV, Backstrom, Oshie, Kuznetsov, Wilson, MoJo, Mantha, Eller, Sheary etc. at their disposal and we just completely locked them down for 4 of the 6 periods (not quite as Hathaway had one late in the 1st on Wed, but you get the idea). We gave up only 2 goals per game against a team that still averages 3.2 per game this season.

It looks like Konecny's point streak got snapped and it still doesn't even matter as Laughton, JvR and Allison provided enough offense and Hart was pretty fantastic.

Idk what more to say, really. We sit here with a team that is completely buying in and absolutely rolling, plus two goalies that are both playing well.

I would've liked to have seen us in the offensive zone more often in the 3rd period of this game, that said, we defended pretty well around Hart and simply did not let Washington overwhelm us as they kept trying to do, wave after wave.

Fuck OV, take your precious, lone goal and get the fuck out of here, you cherry-picker. Take that L, bitch...Lol (yeah, our boys seem to be shit-stirring some too and I'm loving it)

Young players that were pretty much all at one time dismissed as borderline-Nhl talent are blossoming right before our very eyes. I'm talking about Frost, Tippett, N. Cates, Allison and York. It's as if they've all been given the green light to just play their game and let the chips fall where they may (just as long as they play the Torts' way defensively). The confidence that these guys now appear to have to play well at the Nhl level is pretty astounding to see. This is all happening at once too, thus explaining the overall success of the squad as of late. Every single one of these guys are vastly different players than they were at the beginning of the season.

I think we're getting to a point where it's like, wait a second, how good is this team as we speak and how good can we be (assuming we keep improving and Couturier comes back 100% next month or early March)!?

Also, as far as trades go, I wouldn't be entertaining anything unless it completely blows us away or it's for Hayes, JvR, Risto or Braun.

Again, I ask the question. Where do you think this team could be right now if we were 100% healthy from day one? I would say 5th or 6th in the East, 3rd in the Metro. Literally right fucking there with some teams that are widely thought to be much better.

I have to give the guy props. He has largely transformed an inexperienced, banged-up, no-talent, borderline-Nhl franchise that is/was completely devoid of a legit top line, top defensive pairing or even one elite goal scorer (and has every reason in the world to tank) into a scrappy, young bunch of relentless gamers that will not fucking go away and are getting better game by game and at every position.

What can I say? In the words of Herm Edwards, "You play to win the game!!" and we're absolutely fucking doing that...Lol
