@tlance ….not tagging you about individual calls.

I’m just curious about your opinion on Monty’s statement.

This sound scathing or fair?

He seems to echo a bit of both sides perspective.

But, Lack of fundamentals about sums it up…imo

Monty McCutchen attributed the missed call to “a lack of fundamentals” from the referees involved. As James drove, the baseline referee, Jacyn Goble, was in motion in an effort to gain the best angle. While Goble’s intentions were good, the end result left him in a position where he was unable to clearly see the foul. “We want our referees in a still position,” says McCutchen. “We want movement to be purposeful, meaning, ‘Oh, someone stood in front of me. I need to make a definitive step to the left one step.’ But we can’t allow ourselves to get into rapid movement at the same time that the play is coming to a head.

McCutchen says he is confident the issue that led to the missed call in Boston can be corrected and that referees will work tirelessly to be in the best position to get every call right. “It really is impactful to referees to miss calls,” says McCutchen. “They’re not flippant about it. They don’t leave with a lack of remorse. But you have to move on. You have to get to the next game. That doesn’t help the teams that were aggrieved. We understand that. But we have to continue to pursue excellent work even up against our imperfections. That way you turn one call and you sort of nip it right there instead of turning it into a progression of bad calls.

In my opinion, in the last two minutes of a close game, every single play should be reviewable, especially when it comes to a potential game winning play/move.

The league at the very least should look at changing some rules when it comes to that.

Yup. And they don’t have to do a full review of every single foul, most are clear. Fix the obvious stuff and you don’t have to do it with the refs on the floor. Technology and one person in the replay center per game can handle this.

I think we need spell-check on some birth certificates too. Jacyn? I read that as Jacyln before Jason and was starting think a female ref was getting thrown under the bus, lol.

Wtf is Steve Javie getting paid to do?

Dude is just getting a bag to watch the game and guess if a call will be overturned, upgraded to a flagrant twice a game?

Sign me up…lol

Bored at work today, here's a couple of hypothetical Lakers trades (for better or worse?):

Russ/Bryant/Jones/1st for Turner/McConnell/Theis
Bev/Walker/JTA/1st for Trent Jr/Porter Jr

Levels of protection on both picks to be negotiated, of course.

Builds the Lakers depth with players under contract for at least one more year (option year for Trent Jr being the sticking point) while giving each of the trade partners a 1st, expiring salary, and a younger player with some upside (which the Lakers would struggle to retain this summer).

Damn right.

And again, I'm not making any excuses for why the Lakers lost. They should have hit their shots and not turned the ball over so many times. They only have their selves to blame.

But shit needs to change with officiating.

From what I read, Indy wants TWO firsts for taking Westbrook

Which is why the Lakers never pulled the trigger on that deal!

Well, I would assume the 2nd 1st was for the players coming back?

Stupid Wolves and their ridiculous overpay to the Jazz, skewing all trade demands lol...

I thought it was two 1st and Westbrook for Buddy/Turner. Lakers were only willing to deal one first,

I guess that's the price you pay for trying to get rid of a bad contract.

Kinda like how the Lakers had to get rid of D'Angelo Russell to lose the Timofey Mosgov contract Mitch stitched them up with.

I never thought you were making excuses. The regulars in the NBA threads know how much I like taking shots at the Lakers just about any time possible.

But the manner in which that game against the Celtics was stolen from them, I don't even consider that game a true loss, it was fucked up. Stuff like that under no circumstances should happen in the NBA.

And it's irresponsible on the leagues part to not have all questionable calls the last two minutes of a game reviewed. What happened in that game should never happen again. Hell it's a shame it happened once.
