They are 6-0 in OT......but I guess that doesn't make the resume because they often ran away with it in OT and won by more than 3.

No doubt annoying how they have lost many of these games, though.
Yeah those OT’s can get out of hand quick especially if Donovan takes over. Garland has a tough time taking care of the ball in close games but I dont put that all on him. I see a lot of standing and watching. Their offense changes in ways in those moments. Just some thoughts

we definitely need the guards - especially Mitchell, it seems - to get the ball into the bigs. Mostly Mobley as he really seems to be playing better as of late. Like he finally has the belief many cannot stop him.

Hard to tell him not to shoot but maybe when he's struggling like he was last night.

Will say not the worst thing we hit 27% of 3s, they made 43% took a lot more FTs AND we couldn't make FTs.......but we hung with them until the end (I mean, sucks we lost, though).

Interesting comment and a lot to unpack.

Looks clearly directed toward the fan side to me.

He obviously knows ref fundamentals like 9 million times better than me. That being said, the ref did clearly move to his left to get a better angle as LeBron was driving. Was it the ideal angle?

I don’t know. I think he got a good angle to see LeBron between the bodies that were between LeBron and the official.

The problem was that Tatum was behind LeBron. And where the official was positioned, Tatum’s arm swung down on LeBron’s almost directly in line with the ref’s viewpoint.

So it would have been very difficult for the official to see definitively if it was a hack or a clean play on the ball from his angle.

I am honestly not sure where he should have moved to get a better angle either. Just a lot of bodies on that play.

I think McCutchen has to say what he said. They are obviously going to strive to be the best they can be to make the calls as accurately as possible.

It is just so damn hard.

And I feel like people today just are completely wrong about the perception that officiating is worse today than previous generations.

It is just never been under the public eye in the microscope the way it has been recently. Social media has called way more attention to it in a very negative way.
Agree.

As much as I keep flaming the refs, I thought that Mccutchen did succumb to the masses and that his statement was a bit too scathing.

I keep going back to Law Enforcement because it’s what I know best.

But, everyone hates it when a PD sides with it’s officer when it’s clear as day that they are in the wrong.

Yet, I find the overcorrection of events just as distasteful.

First, there were no dirty cops.

Now they are all dirty until proven otherwise.

I’m good with saying he missed the call.

Surprisingly…despite all the chirping that I did….

I feel bad that he called the guy out by name and said he lacked fundamentals.

That’s basically calling him unqualified.

Right....many Cav fans and Blame the Coach Guys I keep seeing "we are only .500ish since the 8-1 start"

But the 8-1 start counts. Hell, how about we are 31-17 if we take away the 0-5 slump after that start?
Like you should be penalized for building a cushion early.

Ummm, that’s what teams should do.

Now, if there is a stretch of bad play or a injury, you will still be fine.

People make mistakes. It's that simple. They're only human

But plays like that, that literally decide the outcome of games need to be reviewable.

This isn't just the blame on the refs. This is also blaming the system and rules

It is interesting.

You see the official kind of lean to the left at the end of the play.

IMO, he should have taken 1 more step instead of leaning. But in all honesty, that is more for appearances so that he looks like he is hustling than anything else.

Appearance is important, but I don’t think it likely impacted the refs chance to make the call.

The real culprit, IMO?

Is not the baseline official.

It was the trail official on the right hand side. He had the best angle. He is the one who should have made the call.

Closer isn’t better in this case.

You will.

Too much talent.

Guys have missed games.

The Clippers and Memphis had horrible losing streaks.

6 games or more.

Still top 4.

Cavs are going to the playoffs.

I can see them at least exploring it during the off season.

Especially if the Lakers miss the playoffs by one or two games.
….and it’s not just the Lakers.

Yours is just the most high profile.

They have to tweak it at minimum.

Win your challenge, keep your challenge.

Yep the biggest issues are FT’s, the 3 ball (being somewhat consistent) and defending the 3. Their defense defending the 3 blows my mind

Win your challenge, keep your challenge.

Win your challenge, keep your challenge unlimited times

And auto review last 2 minutes no matter what.

Teams will still only challenge sure fire overturns because if they lose, they are done. So I don’t think challenges would get overused.
