My point was more in the way that minny worked and worked and worked to keep McDaniel out of the Gobert deal

I don’t remember a lot of the clips roster then, but they did turn down firsts from contenders for Lou to make a playoff run so he easily could’ve been involved and flipped by okc to make a deal more palatable.

And this is especially true when the clippers had a glaring need at pg when they had sag

There had to be another way.

That was more where I was going. SGA should’ve been their McDaniel in this case, especially already paying a premium for george
You keep.saying there had to be another way.

Yet, you have never come up with a plausible scenario.

The Jazz and Clippers situations are completely different.

Utah wanted to offload Rudy.

So, obviously.... They were more flexible.

George's trade request was closer to Davis and Kevin Durant.

They wanted out.

So, unless the acquiring team gave up everything requested, no deal.

Also, I'm gonna need a link to that Lou Will 1st rounder offer, Pinnochio.

We had to give up a 2nd rounder just to get Atlanta to take him.

Also....

SGA played the 2 in LA.

Pat Bev was the pg.

@thunderc @tlance @trojanfan12 @The Q

Rare scenario where our differing opinions are all correct.

Funny how this article came out days after our discussion.

I also forgot that two of those picks were Miami’s, not ours.

In the 2019 offseason, the Clippers traded Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, three unprotected first-round picks in 2022, 2024, and 2026, two first-round picks from the Heat in 2021 and 2023, and two first-round pick swaps in 2023 and 2025 for Paul George. This trade and the Anthony Davis deal changed the market for star players going forward and it jump-started a rebuild for the Thunder. They’ve already drafted Jalen Williams and Tre Mann with two of the five first-round picks they got but most importantly they got Gilgeous-Alexander who is playing at an All-NBA level.

While the Clippers gave up a haul for George, this wasn’t necessarily a bad trade for them. Unlike some teams that have recently made all-in deals for All-Stars, the Clippers were well-equipped for it. This deal sealed the signing of Kawhi Leonard and they already had a deep roster filled out. They had their best season in franchise history by making the Conference Finals in 2021, and have already recovered decently from losing all those draft picks by identifying talented players like Terance Mann, Luke Kennard, Amir Coffey, and Brandon Boston Jr.

I agree.

The clippers problem isn’t the trade, IMO.

Their problem is the way they have managed Kawhi Leonard since the trade and the negative impact that has had on team chemistry.

SGA had a good rookie year.

But nobody in their right mind would have predicted him becoming what he has at the time of the deal.

That's my point.

@The Q acts like they traded this version of the Kid.

Dude averaged 10ppg and George was putting up 28.

Basically, refusing to include Shai in that deal would be the equivalent of the Thunder not trading for Jaylen Brown because they didn't want to include J Williams, Santa Clara version in the deal.

Presti is a genius for pulling this off.

What SGA is doing is ridiculous.

He went form 10 ppg to 31 ppg in 2 years.

That's BONKERS.

But, Clippers thought they were getting a 2 for 1 and ended up getting a part time George and a lemon lot Kawhi.

Hindsight is 2020.

Presti may have. It’s been a lot of fun watching him develop. If there’s anyone better at taking it to the rim I don’t know who it is, he’s a magician in traffic.

I mean, he does have a track record of seeing things in guys that others might not.

I both love, and loathe, these Clippers.

Lose a 18pt lead and goes down 6.

Ty Lue decides to do some straight FUCKERY and puts George at pg, Mann at sg, Covington at the 3, Batum at the 4 and Zu....

12-0 run

So let me get this straight, instead of sitting their guys tonight and still beating a 5 win team, they decided to play them instead of tomorrow and now will lose both games?

OK you NBA nerds, I've asked this before and I keep forgetting the answer: if you take a shot and get fouled, and miss, does that count as a shot attempt?

Leonard just looks like a shell of himself
Yep.

Lose a game and you can go from 6th to I0th out West.

Everyone keeps saying it's early.

But, when everyone is bunched up, 1 game can be the difference.

Just a ridiculous loss, especially if the Dubs and Wolves win.

Thunder hung with the Grizz for 3 quarters then it fell apart. 2-1 on the road trip with 2 more games to go.

Dubs ain't gonna win. It was looking like a close one that would go down to the wire, but now they're fading

And come on standings mean nothing right now. Hell every team in the West is within 3 games of each other.

It seems like a league full of good teams, a couple terrible ones, and 2 truly top level great ones (you can guess)
