Is it because you feel it’s excessive or that some use it as a crutch for WHY they lost?

Yes. I have yet to see a game where someone says "the refs cost us the game" that there weren't multiple other reasons why they lost the game that had nothing to do with the refs.

I don't mind the occasional complaint about a bad call, especially if it's egregious like when Joey Crawford t'd Timmy for laughing. But when it's virtually every day and someone is stupid enough to go as far as to say they could do better...that gets real old, real fast.

When I'm watching a game and I see a call that I think is a bad call...I'll acknowledge that it was a bad call (even when it benefits my team), but I can honestly say that I have never blamed the refs for a loss. Not even when I was a kid.
