Hakeem is the dude that he looked up to when he first comes to the United States to play basketball. I don’t think it’s coincidence that since Hakeem publicly criticized his game this season Embiid has gone next level. Embiid is always going to be highly emotional and can’t block out the noise that occurs from media around pro sports. He may have turned the corner now in channeling how to respond best to that stuff. I’m guessing those Hakeem comments cut deep for him.

It was wise for Embiid, or any other player for that matter, to listen to Hakeem. Very few have played the C position at the elite level he did. He knows what it takes to be dominant at his position.

Actually, Embiid pushed back. I understood what Embiid was saying but he came off disrespectfully. It felt like a lot of Ok Boomer energy. He didn’t mention Hakeem by name but he said something to the effect of these old heads who say we need to be on the block posting all day don’t understand how the game has changed and you need to create spacing. “They must have a low basketball IQ”. That was the real disrespectful part. I heard the comments and I was like yeah dude got his feelings hurt.

Lakers 3 back of 6th seeded dallas with 11 to go. With Luka likely back on Monday, might be time to kiss a top 6 seed goodbye

Any chance of the 6th seed ended last night. Even if they manage to catch the Mavs, they don't have the tiebreaker.

Yeah, now we hoping for the 7 or 8 seed.

But, I am not settling that bet till it's mathematically over. LOL.

I’m gonna push back on the “no show” thing. We’ve seen a different Embiid the last three seasons. I don’t know when hasn’t shown up has applied. When they’re eliminated by Atlanta he averaged 30 and 13. He dominated in the Raptors series last year and broke his face on a dirty elbow. Misses the first two in the Miami series and wasn’t the same guy playing with the mask and stuff. I wouldn’t call that a no show. He’s 27 and 11 for his playoff career. The problem has been “the others” around him when it comes to the playoffs. Best example is in the Raptors series they lose in 7 in 2019. Embiid is +90 in that series in 237 minutes. In 99 minutes he sat the Sixers were -109. If you want to say his team needed even more and he needs to give more that is a debate but a fair expectation of a star. I wouldn’t say it’s a no show. I’ve seen no show with the Sixers over the years with Simmons on offense, guys like Redick Bellanelli Seth Curry on the defensive end being a traffic cone etc…

The Sixers are different in their construction this year because Embiid has 2 other great offensive players around him and the rest of the guys are two way players with fewer specialists. The only specialist guy who still remains is Georges Niang.
Definitely exaggerated but I remember one series he put up numbers but his efficiency and overall play was lackluster. Simmons seemed to be the clear issue. I thought the year they had Butler was their best chance. Kawhi played out of his mind and then that corner shot was…well you know.

Watching the Wiz last night. Porzingis when healthy is a very good player, he is a tough matchup. Beal? Gotta be up there with the worst contract in the NBA. Yes, CLE does have the a top defense and I don’t watch him all the ton but he seems to have regressed quite a bit. Probably would change if he was on for example Miami, being a #2 or #3 option but either way that contract is ridiculous.

Now I say this and realize he is having a pretty damn good season especially efficiency wise. Last year was bad, improved a lot but still $50M/year. Not the worst but maybe top 10 or top 15 worst.
