This deal would only happen if Butler wanted to be traded.

And he is getting old.

So contract exchange + picks is probably a pretty solid offer. Thinking 2-3 firsts.

Riley doesn't trade stars and if he does then he's not trading the player to his preferred location. He is under contract until 2026

He's going nowhere. I get his frustrations but bam and Herro done what is needed out of them most of the season. Prior to last night those 3 scored 67 and 80 in the previous 2 losses
At what point is it time to say that core isn’t good enough to climb the mountain?

Harris and picks? Probably going to need Maxey
The Lowry and Robinson contracts are what’s holding them back.

They just need 1 more really good piece to go with Bam, Jimmy, Herro.

Spo on crack for evoking Shawn Marion’s name when discussing Martin.

But, he’s a nice young player on a great contract.

They aren’t that far off.

The smart move is to get away from the cap commitment to get 40 in cap off the book 2 years early and trade Herro for role players. You build around Bam and cap room. Miami is one of like 3-4 franchises that can claim to be a true FA destination. That’s a real advantage.
Bam
Depth you bring back for Herro
Grow a guy in Heat culture they draft
Big Gun they can sign with a max cap opening they create.

They would be a 5 seed out West.

I don’t think they are anywhere near blow it up territory, unless Jimmy starts channeling his Minny days.
I love Jimmy Butler. He’s 20 minutes away from doing that at all times though. And dude is 33. Tick tock tick tock

You know, depending on the direction Brooklyn decides to take, they could really load up on picks.

DFS, O’Neal, Cam Johnson. Claxton are good assets.

Mikal obviously gets them a haul.

I bet Bruce Brown is ecstatic he left when he did.

Always thought it was weird they let him walk for 6 mil.

He’s nowhere near Kawhi level dogging it during the Season.

But, he gets nicked up.

Still….

Playoff Jimmy is a mofo.

I’d give them a gently used Norm Powell and T Mann for Jimmy in a heartbeat.

Dude is still really good.

I agree. I’m just saying, at 33, his dreams of being a key piece and not a chaser on a championship team are starting to wind down at that age.

Yeah I’m only half serious. As @bksballer89 pointed out, Pat Riley will be dead soon. As long as he is still there he will continue to want to win. He’ll take another swing with Buckets to try. It isn’t the right move to maximize Bam’s prime which is coming but Riley doesn’t care cause he’s on the down end of his career and this is the last chance.
Yeah same. He isn’t going anywhere but like tlance said, only if he wants to be traded

This guy is a Sixers homer for sure but this is a good read on the MVP discourse and the factors that go into the vote.
