Getting off the Strip is a great decision. Much cheaper at Ellis Island. I wanna take a trip back there and go to the Mob Museum. Former Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman helped get it started. Back in the day he was a real deal mob attorney. Even has a cameo in the movie Casino.

Saddiq came out nailing threes and the Cavs never recovered. Pistons need to quit winning though.. They're trying. Didn't play Plumlee or Grant or Ellington or Dennis Smith. Still won.

Players always try, their careers depend on it. Just couldn't bench enough players to get down to Cavs level apparently....

really- Steph has only had 7 seasons where he has been amongst the elite.

its debatable that if you only have 7 seasons of elite play- that you get into the top 20 of all time - no matter how good those seasons are. And that is counting this years 50 games.

If you include college, which the Basketball HOF does, it's not crazy to put Bill Walton ahead of Steph. I wouldn't put Harden ahead of him though.

There are a few options you can do, if you can't recruit because you're not a destination city - do better in draft evaluation or develop better.

Again, what has Portland done outside of having Dame and CJ the last several years? The answer, nothing.

My point was Portland has wasted Dame (more specifically) prime years by not surrounding him with better players.

draft better when they usually pick in the 20s? Sure, it can be done but it's a crapshoot and far more players picked in that area who would not help Portland than players who would.

But he was listing all time top 20 players not HOF resumes. And while Steph was not Bill Walton level dominant in college, he was pretty good. Davidson? He had them in the elite 8 if I recall.

Maybe a better way to look at Portland is that they wasted Dame rather than wasted their backcourt?

Dame is better than CJ, but CJ is still very good.

As others have pointed out, Portland isn't exactly a destination franchise. So signing a difference making FA, wasn't happening for them.

However, they may have been able to trade CJ to get better players or better picks to put better players around Dame?
