I get the MJ comparison because Lebron is in the GOAT convo and some think he already is.

But, MJ and Lebron has always been an ill fitting comparison based on how each plays.

Lebron's game has always favored Magic far more than MJ. Kobe is who you compare to MJ.

I consider Lillard a top 10 player in the league, and arguably the best PG in the league (I said arguably). It's wasted because Portland has failed to surround them with any talent as they've relied on those two to carry them. The only backcourt that's been better, IMO in the last few years is Steph and Klay.

Again, that's why I say that Portland's wasted their chance as making only 1 conference finals with that backcourt talent is less than optimal.

So Lillard is a top 10 player, but not top 5.

McCollum is like a top 30ish player. Never made an all star team.

How many franchises in NBA history have won titles with a 2nd tier star (not top 5) and the 2nd best player has not made an all star team?

I can’t think of one.

Portland has done well to get to the WCF. They have not underachieved at all IMO. Lillard and McCollum are not a championship 1-2.

Dame? I think so.

I don't think Dame and CJ have underachieved, but I agree with Heatles that the organization did by not putting better pieces around them. Maybe they tried and couldn't get anyone and Dame and CJ are certainly good enough to make draft lottery help difficult to get. But the end result is the same. Just seems like they kind of wasted an opportunity.
