There's plenty of criticism on Doc yet all I'm hearing is "It was all the players fault"

7 years in LA, multiple superstar players, probably the deepest teams in the league during his stretch with the Clippers, yet the best he could do is a 2nd round playoff exit?

There was no leadership with Doc. How many games did Kawhi and PG have to "load manage" last season only to suffer one of the biggest humiliations in playoff history? Doc let guys like Kawhi waltz all over him.

Like the video I posted earlier said: "The Clippers problem was they had this arrogance that they could turn it on and off, and Doc allowed that."

You think Phil would have accepted Kawhi's lackluster attitude last season? Pat Riley? Hell, he tried it with Pop and got his ass shipped out.

Oh, hold on now.

Load management does not come from the coaching staff. That is organizational. Kawhi had that worked as part of the deal when he signed and PG was coming back from off season surgery.

Yes, those guys missed too many regular season games to build up chemistry, but that is not Doc’s fault. He is not the one deciding when Kawhi sits. Promises were made when Kawhi was recruited.

As for the bubble, it seemed like half their team didn’t want to be there. Lou, Trezl etc had extended time away from the team. Can you blame Doc for that? I don’t know. Personally I don’t. These are all grown men. It isn’t Doc’s responsibility to keep Lou Williams out of the strip club.

The team dynamic from last season was off for many reasons outside Doc’s control. Preferential treatment of star players appears to have had a big impact on team chemistry, but how much of that blame truly falls on Doc? The coach typically isn’t the one deciding when players are unavailable to suit up.

You mean you don't want to answer that because it makes Doc look even worse...

Saying that Pop shipped Kawhi out because Pop wouldn't tolerate his lackluster attitude is absolutely false it is hard to believe you could even write it. It's basically wrong on every level.

Pretty much this. Stars getting preferential treatment on a basketball team is the norm. Blaming Doc for that when it is how every team handles their stars is silly. This is especially true given how Kawhi controlled the entire move to the Clippers.

Not sure why some of the Laker fans seem so focused on slagging on Doc. No one is saying he is a Hall of Fame coach. But it is kinda ridiculous to say he is a bad coach. Brett Brown was a bad coach. Nice guy, bad coach.

Sixers fans are enamored with Doc Rivers for a number of reasons but the biggest is that he isn’t Brett Brown. You don’t have an appreciation for how bad Brown was until you see him replaced with a competent NBA level coach.

This is easily the biggest reason why Sixers fans love Doc Rivers. Seeing how this team plays this year compared to last year is just striking.

I get that last year's team was not as well constructed as this year's team. But Brown also got nowhere near as much as he should have from that squad.

Does that make Doc a great coach? Nope. It makes him not a bad coach.

There's more to it than just when they suited up. There was also being late to practices and planes being held up for away games. If that's going on and they're not being held accountable. That's on the coach.

1) Yes
2) No one knows. It looks like they've just tuned their coach out and they need a teamwide shake up.
3) No
4) Lost talent over the last couple of years (Kawhi, Danny Green, Gasol, Ibaka). Also, some internal friction. For example, Siakam had some blow ups with the coaches
5) I don't know, how bad do you think it is? Top 3 teams could win the Finals. That's better than most years.
6) It's still pretty good yes. Unless you have the #1 seed, every other playoff match up in round 1 could be brutal. Like do you really want to play a healthy Mavs team as a #7 seed in round 1? That's tough. Even tougher, a #6 seed fully healthy Lakers team
7) Pure scorcer? KD. Pure shooter? Curry

Gracias

DJ- third time i am asking

i will bet you the Lakers do not make the Finals.

you game?

cmon out under that rock and respond.
Sit down in the corner and STFU, you dunce.

The Lakers are currently without James and AD, just got their asses kicked by the Knicks last night.

If they come back and both are healthy before the playoffs we'll discuss it then. How about this, I bet you 5k the Cavs don't make the playoffs (only 3 games behind the 10 seed)?
