Even better when it beats your team and they are better off with the loss.

One hell of a pass, too.
gotta say- this season has turned out pretty well so far for the Cavs.

1. They got a critical piece of the future with 22 year old Jarret Allen
2. In some ways- losing Drummond and having Love hurt all year (and basically 60M of the their cap doing nothing) has given the kids ample time to play and get experience.
3. Garland has taken a big step where many around Cleveland think he might be the best long term piece on the roster.
4. On schedule if they can just get a little lucky to get a top 5 pick and add an elite talent wing to the roster.
5. Sexton has really solidified himself as a big time scorer that is efficient. His rookie year and the shortened season last year were good but still a pretty small sample size. To do it again- and still at the age of 22, is pretty nice. ESPECIALLY the efficiency.
6. The Cavs, and a lot of teams around the league, have really realized that Larry Nance Jr. is a good player.

So why do the Cavs continue to be a mediocre basketball team?

because 60 million in payroll is either injured or released and they are starting 4 guys 22 years old or younger.

they will prob be mediocre again next year (although- at least this year .500 basically gets you in the running for home court first round).

but they are building out the base nicely. Guys dont develop overnight.

I wish sorry ass Washington would win a few more games and pass the Cavs. You have freaking Beal and Westbrook. It really pisses me off. You know the Magic arent winning shit after trading their whole roster. I just hope the Cavs dont pass Toronto or Chicago or OKC. Houston is truly pathetic.

Curry turned 33 years old 2 weeks ago. Warriors are 22-24 and in 10th place in the West.

I would add some major improvement in their commitment to defense. They’ve grown in that area this year.

His entire offense is basically put backs.
And that's all we need.....a guy who can grab offensive rebounds and somebody we can throw lobs into the post.

Gasol on the perimeter isn't working and he's toast. Drummond is 27 and in his prime. He also provides a rim protector on defense.

As long as he stays in his lane it will be a good pickup

Drummond is probably an upgrade over Gasol, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too much.

One of the podcasts I was listening to last week had a a pretty good point about guys like Drummond, although they weren't necessarily talking about specifically.

One of the hosts said he was talking to a coach about some big that he thought was getting way too many plays run through him. The coach said that he needed to do that otherwise the player would become a bit despondent in the game and passive. Even the big want to be part of the action and not just expected to bang around in the paint and set screens all day.

So it is a balancing act with a guy like Drummond. He's pretty limited offensively but the team needs to let him eat at least a little bit. If Vogel can figure out a way to balance that out and get him in situations where he can succeed then Drummond could be a great pick up.

He will have a specific role. If he plays that role, it will be good for everyone and he has a good shot at getting a ring. If not, he might still get a ring, but it'll be while sitting at the end of the bench.

One thing that I think gives it a decent chance at working is that the Lakers have a team of veterans, while the Cavs are very young. The Cavs kids may have felt like they had to get him his "touches" out of respect for him being a veteran. The Lakers players aren't likely to feel like they have to do that.

He has 3 20-20 games this season, tied for 1st in the League.

What was the Cavs record in those games?

If Drummond is scoring 20 points for the Lakers, things have gone horribly wrong in the Staples Center.

Look who he was playing with.

We need his scoring and rebounding right now with James and AD out.

On a bad team. If he's having 20-20 games with the Lakers, something is wrong. Especially after Lebron and AD get back. If he can average about 10-12 points and 8-12 rebounds per game along with good defense, that will be plenty.

The one challenge too is he will get more run without Lebron and AD and then they will need to scale him

I agree, I just wasn't aware of that many 20-20 games....

Yep.

He's probably glad to be around guys his age, instead of the kiddie corps.
