I get why people think Harden is an amazing player. And he can be. But his ego and playing style, especially in their current form, will always be a huge obstacle for his team's success.

I'm so glad that the Sixers didn't make the move for him. And I'll say that even if the Nets wind up winning the title this year.

Point remains. When you have a percentage spike in a single season, you can’t assume it is legit improvement until the player backs it up.

Like we told you before the season, the low FT % was indicative that he really hasn’t improved as much as his 3 point % spike might have led you to believe.

Even that can be a bit deceiving though. Sure he moved from 42% to 57% and he's at 64% so far. But he has also only averaged 1.0, 1.2 and 0.9 free throws per game. He needs to improve his attempts per game and maintain the improvement.

Because he passes the ball so much, he'll never be James Harden when it comes to free throw attempts, but he needs to get more per game. He may also never be the free throw percentage champ, but he's got to get to over 70%, even if he doesn't improve his attempts.

Hard not to when you start below 50%.

I can’t think of any legitimately good shooters that shoot below 70% from the line. Free throws are as easy as it gets for a shooter.
