Zach Lowe said in his column that if Houston really wanted Simmons, they could have had him. So it sorta sounds like it wasn't Philly saying no

Well what he said was that if the Rockets really wanted Simmons they could have had him personally but that one side or the other decided to get too cute.

The Rockets got a huge haul in this deal. 4 picks plus 4 swaps plus Victor Oladipo. But if the Rockets really wanted Ben Simmons(24 year old All-NBA player), Tyrese Maxey(20 year old rookie who already looks the part) AND 3 1st round draft picks that is a dramatically BETTER deal. Even if they didn't really want Simmons they could have traded him for what? 3 1sts?

Now we don't really know what the Rockets asked for or what the Sixers offered. According to a Philly beat writer with extensive ties to the team, the Sixers offered Simmons and Thybulle to the Rockets. The Rockets countered that the Sixers needed to add Maxey and picks. The Sixers said no. IMO, the Rockets were trying to prison r*pe Morey. Maybe out of spite or maybe because they thought his love for Harden knew no bounds. But it clearly did.

Are we just gonna pretend the Bucks with the back to back MVP and who improved their roster in the offseason don't exist?

I think the Bucks have a chance but they really need a plan B in the playoffs. It remains to be seen if they have found one.

I think their plan b is knowing the nets will self implode

League forcing other teams to play while allowing the celtics a week off due to covid is so unfair. There is really no difference between having 7 or 8 players available. As i said before there is more of an asterisk on this season than the playoffs we had in the bubble

They didn't improve their team that much and they haven't shown that they've addressed the issues with how they're defended in the playoffs.

So, as @bksballer89 and @DJ said...yes.

Thought Boston would he back in action soon. Didn't expect the league to give them a week off to get all their players back. Thought it would be like Miami where one game is postponed then back in action afterwards Adam Silver dropped the ball

And Giannis isn't shooting the 3 very efficiently.....if he took his outside game to the next level I might think differently.....but you can still shut him down and the rest of the team won't beat you.

He also lacks that bonafide 2nd superstar. Love Holiday acquistion but he's not a great player.....I may be proven wrong in the postseason but I don't think so.

I like Boston over Milwaukee to be honest....

I'd rank the EC contenders as

1-Philly
2-Brooklyn
3-Boston
4-Milwaukee

Not talking about records, just who I think the best teams are come playoff time.

it feels like all 4 teams are one player short.
The trade deadline will be huge for all 4 of these teams.

although Milwaukee is probably more in for the buyout market

My thing is Philly got a better coach and some shooters in Curry and Green.....losing Redick really hurt them.

And Brooklyn got Harden......they just have to figure out what to do with Irving. If they keep him, it turns into a clusterfuck.....if he doesn't retire (I think it could happen) or trade him to replace the depth they lost in the Harden trade. If Dinwiddie didn't get hurt, they'd be set right now.

The problem is that some teams will just game the system. The Sixers will be playing their 4th game tonight while be severely limited due to quarantine tonight. The Nuggets game last week was absolutely ridiculous. And the league's position was that they couldn't screw up the schedule so they make the Sixers play with 7, 4 of which were rookies. Yet the Celtics get 3 straight postponements.

yes the dinwiddie loss is huge. I wonder if there is a team out there who had a larger contract but actually plays who would take dinwiddie to lower their tax bill or dodge the tax or maybe even clear cap space for the summer.

I agree this whole situation is a mess. I’m wondering if that’s because they have Covid positives va contract tracing?

idk.

we all knew this was gonna get messy.

they need to bubble up for the playoffs again.

The problem with the Nets is that they are PAPER thin. They have one center with ANY experience(Jordan) and 2 power forwards(Durant and Green). They are going to need 30+ year old KD and Harden to log a LOT of miles this season.
