What do the Lakers have that Cleveland would want though? They're going to want potential all star talent to move Sexton, although Love could drag down that value a little.

Found the article. Basically, it's Dennis Schroder in a sign and trade with Sexton and Love coming to the Lakers. The author says he could see the teams doing it as a "plan B".

schroeder would basically get a 1 year max to make that happen

Who wins the nets/bucks series if kyrie and/or Harden doesn't get hurt? The answer is the Nets and yes Bud would have been fired had they not won that series. Championship expectations and lose in round 2 will have you out of a job 99% of the time

You're approaching wiggy embarrassing status of bringing up shit that was previously discussed and addressed
its more embarrassing for you - Bud fired within the week?

id be upset too

and as for Whiteside- who was 1000% right?

He definitely would. I read the article. The chances of it happening seem to be pretty slim though. Apparently, for adding that 3rd high level player, if the Lakers sign and trade Schroder, it gives them a pretty significant trade exception.

Saw another article that said the Lakers are one of several teams interested in Collin Sexton. It said that the downside would be that it would probably mean taking on Love. I'm not sure taking on Love would be such a bad thing. At least not if he's healthy.
I don't either...just not sure what the Cavs would want unless a 3rd team was involved.

Yeah, I think it was you and Wiggy and I that talked about that and we didn't see anything the Lakers could offer that the Cavs didn't already have some version of.

About the only way I could see not having to involve a 3rd team would be if the Cavs had a player or 2 that wanted out and the Cavs took a Lakers player or 2 to replace them.

I honestly didn't read the whole article so I didn't see what they suggested. I'll see if I can find it and actually read the whole thing this time. I remember discussing it a week or so ago with @dtgold88 and I think @WiggyRuss and I don't remember any of us being able to come up with anything the Lakers could send that wouldn't be a version of something the Cavs already have.

For example, why would the Cavs want Kuzma, when they already have Nance?
Rumors I see (by rumor, I mean someone likely threw it out there as they made salaries match) players I see linked are schroeder, Kuzma, THT and KCP.

Not sure what Cavs think of Kuza and THT but I'd be surprised if enough to get Sexton and Love. Aren't KCP and Schroeder FAs? If so, not sure they'd agree to come to Cavs either.

Thinking a 3rd team needed to make a deal with the Lakers.

I don’t think the Lakers have a trade that makes sense there. Maybe THT, Kuzma + salary filler and multiple picks for Sexton and Love? But that is probably a reach.

Cleveland is not getting an all star talent back for Colin Sexton. His trade value isn’t on that level because of his soon to be RFA status.

Acquiring teams must factor in that they have to pay him $30 million to keep him beyond this year.
By "this year" I assume you mean beyond 2021-22 as he is signed though next season?

also not sure he'll get $30 mil. Might, but might not.

I agree that teams like that will want him.

What I don’t agree with is that those teams would be willing to deal an all star caliber player to get him.
might be right...and certainly Mann, late 1sts and filler wouldn't do it (as was suggested).

anything possible, I guess, but not sure why the Cavs or even Schroeder would agree.

I literally said keeping him beyond this year.

And I do think he gets 30 if he hits the RFA market. Someone almost always willing to make those offers to talented young players.

Especially when they know they have to overpay to get the Bird Rights team not to match.

one was a starter on the Celtics

the other was a minimum contract vet on the Kings that might be out of the league soon.
And still probably outplayed him.

And theis was the Celtics starter. He was traded to duck the tax. Not because tt was good.

If you literally said beyond this year you were incorrect. Sexton is signed on his rookie deal through next season.

under 6 year max next year is 29.7M

will Sexton get the max?

gosh i cant see how he will. Its possible but I just dont know.

what they COULD DO is just let Sexton play this year out....let Love play this year out......stretch Love's contract next year to spread his 1 year over 5 years.......

Sexton would be at the RFA cap hold which is not significant.

Love would be at like 6M.

Prince would be gone. Cedi would be 1 year at 7M which would probably be pretty easy to move off of if they wanted.

At that point you would have a ton of cap space--- Sexton, Garland, Okoro, this years pick, Nance, and Windler (if you wanted him).

if they cant get something decent for Sexton that is what i would probably do. Play it out with Sexton and Love this year. Stretch Love after the season. Trade Osman and get off his 7M. Have a bunch of cap space - since under contract would basically only be Sexton, Garland, Okoro, Nance, and Rookie X. Sign a free agent you like. THEN extend Sexton and Garland.
