The original rumor didn’t have Garland. It was Love Sexton Reddish and 2 Cavs first rounders. If Ben Simmons doesn’t improve or add to his game he’s still an All Star. You say we all know about Kevin Love but apparently you don’t. You don’t seem to understand that adding Love isn’t a positive asset that can be weighed according to how good it is. It’s a negative asset. When you stack the give and take of this deal you seem to not understand that on the negative side of the deal where you place losing Simmons you would place taking on Kevin Love at 30+ million right next to it. When you make a trade, the stuff you bring back is supposed to be a positive. Love is an overwhelming negative. It likely ranks among one of the 10 worst contracts in the league. You’re quick to talk about it not being good that Ben Simmons is an All Star that can’t shoot at 30 million dollars. Well, how about a guy like Kevin Love at the same total who can’t even play basketball anymore? The biggest thing you mentioned is him adding to his game using a sports psychologist. My personal opinion is I believe he has worked on his shooting and it hasn't worked out. Its good basketball that he can play defense and pass the ball well but if you are supposed to be a star guard commanding a huge chunk of your teams salary cap and you cant shoot free throws or 3 pointers and you coach is benching you in the 4th quarter I think he would be a liability. At 25 I dont think he has what it takes to all of a sudden turn his career around and be a shooter.
Now I didnt know that the Cavs didnt want to extend Sexton and were looking to get something in return for him, we are well aware of the Kevin Love situation and his contract. Now the upside is that I think Darius Garland still has some upside and can develop into something the sixers can really utilize. If those 1st rounds picks are unprotected I think would have some lottery level value because IMO I think a team where your best players are Simmons, Evan Mobley, Jarret Allen, and Ricky Rubio would be lucky to win 35 games and that is being nice to be honest.
