Like this move for Portland a lot. Nance is on a reasonable deal and provides some stability at the 3/4 position if he's healthy. Nice fit there with Dame and CJ.

Will be interesting to see what the Cavs do with their now glut of big men. Markkanen and Allen now making big bucks between them. Then you drafted Mobley who likely needs court time to improve.

Haven't seen the deal he signed with Cavs. I don't hate it at all but really hoped if nance was dealt would be for a wing. Definitely like it for Portland

I actually kind of like that. Imo, the best announcers can weave in all kinds of interesting stories from the past and still talk about the game they're announcing.

Vin Scully was the king of that. Van Gundy is no Vin Scully, but I do like his stories and "digressions". Same with Reggie Miller.
I like Van Gundy, he doesn’t dodge topics and doesn’t back down. He has been smart to resist the urge to go back to coaching.

They needed a shooter. They had the defense in the front court with Mobley and Allen.

I am said to see Nance go and think he is underated but Markenen is the outside shooter that they desperately needed on this team.

less than 17 a year for Markenen is pretty good- especially because the 4th year is largely unguaranteed and can become a nice trade asset down the road if needed.

Nance playing the 3 is a bit of a stretch. If he could play the 3 on any kind of a regular basis he wouldnt of been moved.

Not a wing, but a stretch 4 isn't a bad fit either.

Well the Blazers also have Covington so I said 3/4 based on their interchangeability in this particular situation. But yes, Nance ideally is more of a 4 than a 3, I agree.

Really like nance a lot and he did want to be here, but guessing he'll be happy to go to Portland and a good fit there.

No doubt we need the shooting of Markkenin. Still could use a wing.

No doubt about that. At worst he is Love's replacement for whenever he goes. Not the rebounder Love is, though, but much younger

Love takes the buyout and comes to the Warriors where he would be a perfect fit.

Covington seemed to take a step back last year but I like his all around game.

Am I reading this correctly? Portland sent out a 1st round pick (protected, doesn't matter, still a 1st round pick) for Larry Nance Jr? Dame packing his bags already

kind of lines up more with their young guys as well at 24 years old.

Sexton, Garland, Markenen, Okoro, Mobley, Allen

Think Mobley is your best shot at a franchise changing player so I would expect him to get more playing time than he would initially deserve to get some experience. But the model for the Cavs is good. They just need to hope some of these guys pan out. Right now Sexton and Garland look like solid starters. Sexton I think is who he is. He's like Monta Ellis with a much better 3 ball. Okoro played well towards the end of the season so we'll have to see where he goes from there. I like his talent though.

Garland, Markkanen and Allen all look like starting caliber players. But IMO for the Cavs they're going to need one of them to step up to be an allstar caliber player. I'm not sure I see it at this point.

Yeah agree, but Covington also came into the league on the older side. He was 23 in his rookie year. He's already going to be 31 this year. I doubt he gets better, but he'll need to play better than last year, that's for sure.

If Nance is healthy, I actually like the move a lot.

i love nance. He’s definitely worth a protected first. Especially in Portland.
